Fourth of July Celebrations in Western Washington

Everyone loves a parade and fireworks! July 4th parades and fireworks hit our patriotic side with the marching bands and other hoopla. Washington State’s West Sound area has a variety of parades to offer. If you live in the Seattle area, simply hop on a ferry and come over here to have some fun! Here are some of the Fourth of July festivities to enjoy. They are broken down by city:

Poulsbo, Washington stands out from the rest due to its Fourth of July parade being held on July 3rd. The Third of July festivities have been a tradition of Poulsbo’s for years and are hard to forget. Come enjoy the surroundings and lose yourself in carnival type rides, a variety of foods, and vendors found along the Liberty Bay waterfront area of Anderson Parkway. July Fourth is the time of food eating contests, and the celebration here will not let you down. There will be an ice cream eating contest, watermelon eating contest, and even a pizza pie eating contest. Come hungry! A festival is not complete without live entertainment, and Poulsbo will not let you down. Up until the fireworks start at about 10:30 p.m., there will be local entertainers dancing, singing, and playing onstage.

Another great Fourth of July celebration is held at Bainbridge Island, Washington. Known as ‘The Grand Old Fourth’ this celebration is one to see. Of course, there will be a parade to start it off. That is, after you enjoy a pancake breakfast offered here. Then, there will be a street fair with vendors ranging from local craftspeople to food vendors. There is bound to be something to please everyone at the street fair. To complete the day, head over to the salmon bake. Just follow the wonderful aroma! Fireworks will light up the skies at days end.

Noted for being the longest running Fourth of July parade on the peninsula, Kingston, Washington will host its Fourth of July parade starting around noontime. There are many other activities available here to enjoy including a carnival with rides, a music festival, and finally – fireworks. The fireworks display is scheduled to happen over Appletree Cove.

The annual summer festivities in Port Orchard, Washington are known collectively as ‘Fathoms of Fun. Celebrations include a carnival with adult and kiddie rides, golf tournaments, concerts, and kids events. The fiddlers are particularly fun to see. And, of course, there is a huge parade. The event closes with the Fourth of July firework display along Sinclair Inlet. Residents from Port Orchard, Bremerton, and surrounding areas have been estimated at over 55,000 to view these fireworks. Impressive!!

Silverdale, Washington is having their Fourth of July fireworks after a local Blue Jackets softball game at the Kitsap Fairgrounds. So far, that is all the information that is available on that. It is nice to go stand along the Dyes Inlet waters edge in Silverdale on Fourth of July evening and watch various fireworks displays around the entire area. There is almost a panoramic view of fireworks from this unique viewpoint!

Of course, the biggest fireworks display is held at Seattle Center in the Queen Anne area of downtown Seattle, known as Ivar’s 4th of July. They are stupendous! With that said, so are the crowds. The fireworks are also televised and make for quite a nice piece of entertainment. They are choreographed with music.
