If you go driving in almost any location in the country and some parts of the city you will see the little decorative windmills. Now for many people they use these windmills only for decoration, but for some people they use them as an indicator as to what the wind is doing. Here are some of the benefits that I have found to having a decorative windmill in my yard.
The first benefit that I have found to having a decorative wind mill in my yard is that it looks nice. Now I know that since it is a decoration it is supposed to look nice, but it really looks great sitting in the middle of my flowers, especially when the flowers start to vine up the windmill. So adding this nice decoration in my yard has made it look better than what it did before.
The second benefit that is nice about having the decorative windmill in my front yard is that the wind mill will tell me what direction the wind is coming from. Now this is great because then if it starts to rain and it is hard to see the rain then I am able to determine what direction it will be blowing against my home so I know which of my windows to close to make sure that the rain doesn’t blow in. So that is a really nice feature during some of the rain storms that doesn’t allow you to see the rain.
The third benefit that I have found is that it gives me a rough idea of how hard the wind is blowing. Now the decorative windmill I have doesn’t have a gauge on it to tell me the wind speed, but I can tell by how fast the wheel is spinning as to how hard the breeze is. Which is nice and helpful in being able to figure out how quickly my clothes will dry outside.
The fourth benefit of having a decorative windmill in my garden is that I am able to decorate it for Christmas. I know that in my yard I do not have much in the way to decorate and hanging lights on the house other than the ramp is kind of hard to find something. So the decorative windmill even provides some extra decoration when they normally would not be that decorative!
While many people consider the decorative windmills for only the decoration value I know that many people can find practical uses for them as well. I know for me I use them to determine the wind strength and direction. Then I worry about using them as a decoration which is also a great reason to have the windmill in my flower garden.
