Teens are all about accessories. They love cheap jewelry, shoes, purses, backpacks, and so much more. I honestly don’t think they can leave their house without being completely covered in fashion accessories. I know when I was younger, I was the same way. I loved to buy tons of fashion accessories from places like Claire’s and Walmart. But, what fashion accessories are teens into today? At my college I’ve noticed several wearing or carrying the following fashion accessories and to be honest things haven’t changed that much since I was that age.
Fashion Accessories for Teens #1: Boots
Teens love a good pair of boots. I see so many students wearing these around the college. A big trend with these fashion accessories is boots that have faux fur at the top of them. When I was younger, teens wore boots, but most wore combat boots. The teens of today choose to be a little bit more stylish when choosing their fashion accessories. In fact, most of them are dressed more like adults.
Fashion Accessories for Teens #2: Necklaces
I’ll never understand it, but I did the same thing when I was a teen. Teens love to have a ton of these fashion accessories on. They’ll have two or three necklaces on at once. But, there are also the more sophisticated teens that chose just one of these fashion accessories and choose to look more grownup. I have to say that I prefer that look. Teens do seem to choose necklaces that have beads on them. Another fashionable choice for teens is the necklaces that are a simple and small LED light attached to a choker style necklace.
I have to admit that I’m still guilty of buying these fashion accessories. I’m a sucker for a tiny purse. If I had the extra cash I would probably own hundreds of them. Teens love small purses because they rarely have anything to carry around with them. They have some lip gloss, a cell phone, some gel pens, and that’s about it. Maybe some hard candy or gum, but nothing more. As teens become women, they realize they must carry around at least 25% of their belonging, just incase they need something. Still I can see why teens are drawn to these fashion accessories. They are just so darn cute.
Most of the college students I know carry a messenger bag rather than a regular backpack. I have to admit that messenger bags are much better than the traditional backpack because books fit into them so much better. With a messenger bag you don’t have any wasted space. With a regular backpack you have this huge bag on your back when you only need a small messenger bag. These fashion accessories are also quite popular purses. You can find smaller messenger bags that make great purses.
Fashion Accessories for Teens #5: Retro Accessories
Teens love anything retro. For my generation it was flared jeans. I’ve noticed a lot of teens wearing sunglasses that look like the ones worn in the 70s. I’ve also noticed teens carrying retro bags, wearing retro jewelry, among other things. These are the type of fashion accessories that never go out of style and teens love it when they can raid their parent’s closet and find lots of retro fashion accessories.
