1980s Themed Party Favors for Teens

1980's, Fashion Accessories, Hair Bands, Travel Size

Are you in the process of planning a 1980s themed party? If so, you may want to take a look at my list of the top 1980s themed party favors for teens. Some of the party favors are suitable for adults as well. Here’s the list:

Rubik Cubes

Rubik Cubes would make excellent 1980s themed party favors. At least they were all the rage in my hometown. You may opt to go with regular sized Rubik Cubes or miniature Rubik Cube key chains. There are many places that still sell Rubik Cubes. Among them are party supply shops and toy stores. Based on my experience, a dozen Rubik Cubes will tend to cost you $16.

1980s Hair Supplies

Speaking from experience, the 1980s was about big hair. Of course in order to get big hair and keep it, you needed an arsenal of hair care products. Aqua Net Hair Spray, Dep and Dippty-Do Gel were among the most popular. Thanks to the likes of Madonna and Ally Sheedy, hair bands and bows were also high on the fashion priority list of many a teenage girl. With that said, you may want to create a 1980s party favor bag that contains all the old hair care essentials. I’d suggest going with travel size bottles of 1980s hair supplies, providing that you can find them. The hair care products are still readily available. It’s finding the travel size containers that can be a bit of a problem. I’d suggest looking for the trial size bottles online or at your local drug store.

1980s Fashion Accessories

Fingerless lace gloves, micro mini-skirts, jelly bracelets and trimmed bobby socks paired with killer high heels and dangly ear rings were a must for some teens in the 1980s. If you were a head banger, you also needed to have studded leather belts and studded leather wrist bands. As such, you may want to create a variety of 1980s party favor bags filled with the decade’s hottest fashion accessories. You could organize the party favor bags by theme. For example, you could have a “Material Girl” party favor bag for the pop fans. You could also create a “British Steel” party favor bag for the rockers and a “Dead Kennedys” bag for the punk fans. I’d suggest placing the party favor bags on one table. Then you could let the party guests choose the bag that they feel the most affinity for.

1980s Candy and Gum

A bag filled with 1980s candy and gum would also make a wonderful party favor. If you do decide to go that route, you’ll definitely need to include a pack of Hubba Bubba Max. It’s as close as you’re going to get to the original Hubba Bubba. Other popular 1980s treats to consider are Smarties, Sweetarts, Atomic Fireballs and Jawbreakers. You can generally purchase an entire box of 1980s candy through candy wholesalers for less than $12. Of course Funny Bones and Yodels are also worthy of consideration.
