Easy, Beautiful Pregnancy Style

Pencil Skirt, Toned Arms, Wrap Dress

What’s your pregnancy style? I remember when I was pregnant, how hard it was to feel ‘cute.’ Oh, everyone and their brother said I was cute, but I certainly didn’t feel it. I felt big, wide, and very frumpy. Maternity clothes didn’t help either – they were either way too big, way too small, or were covered in cutesy little bows and baby pink polka dots. That really wasn’t my style. But here are a few ideas to look cute while you are growing your baby bump.

Leggings and a tunic. The popularity of leggings has made them a wardrobe staple. The lean silhouette on the bottom will help balance your blossoming shape, plus they are super comfy. Choose a flowy tunic and a cute, structured jacket for balance.

A long stretchy t-shirt. You don’t always have to wear maternity clothes. Layer lightweight stretchy t-shirts for the ultimate in comfort. Keep them slim fitting for balance and to show off that cute baby belly. Belly bands are a great way to cover any spots that a t-shirt doesn’t.

A go to pair of jeans with a couple of great tops. One thing I did right when I was pregnant was to invest in a great pair of jeans. Too bad I can’t still wear them! They made my legs look longer and leaner, and were perfect with t-shirts, blouses, and even a white button down.

Black pencil skirt with a great pair of shoes. One favorite outfit of mine when I was pregnant was a pencil skirt and a crisp green wrap shirt. It looked professional and dressy, and with a pair of stiletto heels, I still felt great.

Wrap dress with great boots. The outfit that I loved the most was a brown wrap dress with a pair of knee length, high heeled boots. I felt really great in that dress, and it showed. The wrap style helped keep my belly under control, but showed off my new figure.

Something asymmetrical. A one shouldered tank will show off great shoulders, toned arms, or a great neck. This eye catching style will help you look and feel great.

Pregnancy doesn’t last all that long, even though it may feel like it! And you’ll probably only need to wear maternity clothes for the last six or seven months. Rather than invest in an entirely new wardrobe, choose a few great pieces that you can mix and match. Remember that your emotions will probably be all over the place as you percolate your papoose, so choose items that make you feel especially good. You are better off spending a little extra money on a few awesome items than going overboard on a plethora of clothes you may never wear again (been there, done that!). Focus on body parts that are less affected by pregnancy – great looking gams, well-sculpted arms, or gorgeous shoulders. And always accessorize. Eye catching jewelry will help keep the eyes off of your growing bump (and if you are at all like I was, other expanding parts as well). Wear a smart looking hairstyle and some pretty makeup and you will look and feel gorgeous.

Most of all, remember that this phase of life isn’t forever, and it will all be worth it when you are finally able to hold that bundle of joy in your arms. Whenever you feel less than perfect, keep your eye on the prize, and think about things that are really fun. Like all those cute little baby clothes….
