The investigation tokens show up as Green tokens with an exclamation mark.
Collections (Yellow Tokens) are similar to the Investigations (Green Tokens) and Briefings (Blue Tokens), however they differ significantly in some key ways. First off the Collections items are found as items you pick up after using a Yellow Holographic Token. Using one of these tokens causes it to disappear, meaning only one person can use a single Collection token, as opposed to unlimited multi-user use from the Investigations and Briefings tokens.
The locations a collection’s tokens spawn in are random to a certain degree, although they typically are tied to a given area that corresponds with what the collection is about. In addition, a Collection Token belonging to a certain set will randomly drop any of the items from the set, even if you already own it. You must use this item in your inventory to add it to your collection.
