Buying Contact Lenses from 1-800-Contacts Compared to Other Lens Companies

I’ve been as blind as a bat forever. I first found out the world wsn’t one big blurry mass in grade school when the school did eye tests. What an eye opener no pun intended. My Dad was a doctor so I guess you can figure out how this went ignored. The shoemaker’s kids theory applied here. Once I was fitted with glasses. Little cats eye plaid glasses it was the fifties, I found out there are leaves on trees not blurry green blobs. I saw faces, details things I had been unaware of. Not knowing this wasn’t how everyone saw things I never complained or questioned.

Years later when it was time to start dating I would refuse to wear my glasses on dates. I would go to movies and hear the movie not see it. Kids thought I was angry looking or snooty because I wouldn’t acknowledge them half the time because I didn’t see them waving to me. Along came contact lenses and my parents had me fitted for hard lenses. These proved to be so uncomfortable I went back to wearing my glasses.

Once soft lenses came on the market I became a regular customer. I’ve tried the kind you can sleep in, the colored lenses and I now wear Acuvue 2 by Johnson and Johnson. I buy them through an 800 number, 1 800 Contacts. This company is the largest contact lens store.

I had my eyes examined recently and called my eye doctor to see what he charged for these lenses since he’s only 5 minutes away. It turned out for a years supply you paid $189.00. 1 800 Contacts charged 179.92 but offered a $40.00 rebate if I purchased the years supply. So this gave me a final price of $139.92. Much better than the eye doctors price. With 1 800 contacts your satisfaction is guarenteed. You can call them right up if you have a problem and they will make it right according to their information. They ship Fed Ex so you get our lenses in just a day or two after placing your order.1 800 Contacts also will exchange any unopened boxes if your prescsriptin changes. You can take 90 days to pay on orders over $100.00. I’ve been using this company for years without a problem. They carry all the different brands of lenses so you have quite a selection and they never seem to be out of stock.

While checking out the prices I went back and reviewed what I paid and looked at the online site. Online it showed my order should only have cost $119.92 after my rebate so I called them at the 800 number and mentioned this. They were terrific. They offered to credit my account the $20.00 difference!

You do not need to order an entire years worth but that presented the best deal price wise. You can get 2 boxes (6 packs of lenses) but the bargains come with quantity purchases.

When you call 1 800 Contact you wll need to provide them with a recent prescription from you eye doctor. They will call your eye doctor to make sure you’ve had a recent examination. 1 800 Contact is a contact lens replacement service and doesn’t provide medical care for your eyes. I find it reassuring that they require a recent exam. They will give you a customer number that you can refer to the next time you have to replace your lenses.

It makes sense to shop around. If you check Lensdiscounters.com you will find 8 boxes of Acuvue2 costs $92.00 but you pay for shipping The problem with this offer was that you have to place an order within 90 days of your last eye exam and my eyes had been examined 6 months ago. If . But if you are aware of this contingency this company may work for you. You check with 1-877-Lens they claim to beat all prices but usually there are little rules that may disqualify you . I chose to stick with the company I’d had good experiences with. There are several 800 companies that offer competitive prices on contact lenses and it pays to look around. Be sure to check to see that your eye exams are up to date. You should always check your local Opthalmologists office to compare prices and check online if you call your order in in order to get the best price.
