To Make a Vintage Curtains Using Your Vintage Buttons You Will Need:
Vintage Buttons (Lots of them)
Canvas or Sheer Curtains (or canvas material)
Needle
Thread
Scissors

Now, the first step is to measure how wide your Vintage Curtains needs to be. I like to make this Vintage Button Curtain at least 71 inches by 71 inches, so cut it out to be about 73 inches by 73 inches so you can sew a hem.

You could always buy a premade canvas or sheer curtain to save time.

So, sew down your rough edges on all four sides.

Cut out and sew tabs for the top and you can sew on a buttons to make them look like they are holding the tabs on. This step is just a little addition, the real look will be on the main body of the vintage curtains.

Now, start planning out the pattern you want to lay out your Vintage Buttons on the body of the Curtain.

You can start attaching them with your needle and thread.

I think it is important to mark out where each button will go so that you do not loose sight of the overall picture as you work along on each button. Do this with a pencil or color pencil. You vintage buttons will cover the marks up.

You can create rows or lines of vintage buttons. You can make these lines vertical or horizontal. They could also be running diagonal across the vintage looking curtains.

Polka dots and swirls would also look great.

To really personalize these Vintage Curtains try sewing tee vintage buttons on in your personal monogram or initials.

For Victorian curtains try to make more intricate patterns of flowers out of pearlized vintage buttons.

Cover the entire Vintage Curtains with vintage buttons.

Tip: Try leaving room at the bottom or somewhere in the middle of the Vintage Curtains to paint on a stripe in some fabric paint. You can choose a color that will accent your vintage home decor and add some more color.

Be sure to wash your canvas Vintage Curtains or fabric first. This will allow for any shrinking before you start working on the Vintage Curtains. This is especially important if you are going to paint on the Vintage Curtains.

You can buy canvas material and shower curtains in a variety of fun colors. Do not feel limited to white or natural colored canvas. Check out red, blues, and greens at Bed Bath and Beyond.
