Cover Girl TruBlend Minerals Loose Powder: Shade #415

Loose Powder, Translucent Powder

This past weekend I ran out of my foundation. I had been using Bare Minerals for quite some time; religiously. However I really wasn’t feeling up to spending so much money on a new foundation from the company, seeing how Christmas took a toll on my budget.

I needed foundation though, so I stopped in at my local Eckerd’s and figured I would buy whatever looked good. Instead of buying what looked good though, I went for what was new, and not to mention on sale. Cover Girl TruBlend promised me a $3.00 rebate on anything I purchased from the TruBelnd collection.

I picked up some foundation. Usually when I buy liquid foundation, I like to add a translucent powder on top to even out the color, and to remove any shine that may be present. I decided to chuck into my carry cart, Cover Girl’s TruBlend Mineral Loose Powder.

I had no idea what color to choose though. The plastic pot that it came in didn’t really display the color enough for me to tell if it was ‘my color’. I went with Translucent Medium Light which is shade #415.

This was the color I usually always use when applying translucent loose powders, so I figured it would be just about the same.

Appearance:

TruBlend Minerals Loose Powder comes in your standard powder pot. The bottom of the pot is clear, and the lid is a dull silver color with the TruBlend logo on it. It’s easy to locate, as it will be on the shelf with the rest of the TruBlend merchandise.

The inside of the pot there is a fluffy circular shaped applicator. You have to peel off a protective sticker to allow the powder to shake through the holes. Shake very lightly, because a lot of the powder will pour out.

I ended up throwing out the applicator the powder came with because it collects way too much powder. I recommend using a blush brush to apply it instead.

I dipped my brush into the pot, allowed it to collect some of the powder, and began to lightly brush it over my entire face.

I looked closely and noticed something not so natural.

You see, the reason I even went with TruBlend, and this Loose Minerals Powder was because it promised me a very natural finish. A soft even complexion.
Yet when I looked in the mirror I noticed sparkly chunks of glitter all over my face. The glitter wasn’t even subtle. The chunks were big, and very noticeable, and not very natural…at freaking all!

Not only was their chunks of very tacky flecks of glitter on my face, but the cover was barely even recognizable. I know that it is translucent powder. But it is supposed to have a very light medium tone to it. It doesn’t though. Not on my face.

What also truly sucked about this powder was the fact that it did not under any circumstances hide the shine that I usually have on my forehead, and nose. Even the cheapest powder is able to cover up shine!

I wanted a natural look, not a powder that would still show flaws, and then accentuate the flaws with heaps of shimmering glitter.

Overall:

Hated it! TruBlend Minerals Loose Powder didn’t work wonders like it promised.
