Completely Unique Storage Ideas for Every Room

Storage Ideas, Tea Cups, Travel Size

You may have never looked at a tea cup or wine rack as a potential storage vessel, but with a little imagination, even the most common item can be repurposed for something unique. We’ve listed a variety items that can be used to store your belongings in just about every room of the house. These unique storage ideas use things you may already have on hand, and if not, can be purchased at inexpensive prices at your local flea market, consignment shop, or yard sale.

In the kitchen

Strawberry basket – When you’re finished eating strawberries, don’t throw out the basket. Clean it out and use it to store sponges, SOS pads, fingernail brushes, and so on.

Cigar box – Keep that junk drawer organized with a lidded cigar box. Keep loose items tucked neatly inside, or use the box to keep like-items, such as gravy mixes, drink packs, and dry seasonings, together.

Baby wipes container – Recycle an old baby wipes container into a unique storage container! Whether it’s a full-size jug or a small travel-size object, it’s a handy way to store things like cookie cutters, recipe index cards, coupons, free food samples, and more.

In the bathroom

Wine racks – Use a beautiful wine rack to decoratively display extra hand towels, bottles of bubble bath, and bath oils.

Coffee cans – Clean out an empty coffee tin and use it as a ‘all in one’ place for kid’s dental supplies. Store a small tube of toothpaste, floss picks, travel-size mouthwash, and so on.

Tea cups – Pretty tea cups can be used to hold all sorts of things. Facial cloths, Q-tips, cotton balls, scented soaps, bath beads, and much more will fit perfectly inside.

In the bedroom

Ice cube tray – Tuck a plastic ice cube tray inside a dresser drawer and use it to store loose jewelry, tubes of lipstick, coins, spare buttons, and other small items.

Wooden ladder – A small wooden ladder makes a great spot for storing books, magazines, extra clothing, shoes, and so on. Check out these other uses for ladders. You’ll be amazed at how many different decorative and functional uses they have.

Vintage suitcase – Need a place to store a heavy quilt, afghan, or out of season clothing? Why not use a vintage suitcase? It will not only hold your belongings, but will slide right under the bed, too.

In the garage

Knee-high pantyhose – Ironically, pantyhose works great for storing lots of things in the garage. Store nuts and bolts together, organize flower seed packets and bulbs, corral golf balls, protect light bulbs, and other items.

Kitty litter containers – Wash out old kitty litter containers and you’ll find them to be a great convenience. Keep bird seed fresh and easy to pour. Mix and pour concrete. Keep salt for metling ice ready to use. And, they’re great for storage pet food.

Egg cartons – Egg cartons have 12 individual storage areas and a closing lid, which is why they make such awesome storage container ideas. Screws, bolts, nuts, batteries, flower seeds, and other small items will fit perfectly inside.
