Best Ways to Sell College Textbooks

College Textbooks, Free Textbooks, Sell Books, Sell Used Books, Used Books

There are a lot of great places to sell your college textbooks once you are through with them. The most obvious choice is your school’s bookstore. Your school’s bookstore will usually offer you a decent price for your used books, and is a very convenient way to sell your books. When you go to class, simply cruise by the bookstore and sell back last semester’s books, and be on your way.

However, if you are unlucky enough to be the last class to use a certain textbook, or a certain edition of the current textbook at your school, you will be out of luck when you try to sell your books back to your school’s bookstore. You will have to look elsewhere to sell your books. First, try Craigslist. This is a great way to sell books, but if everyone in your town goes to your college or university, they may not be in the market for your books. If you are lucky enough to live in a town with several universities and junior colleges like I do, Craigslist is a great choice.

If Craigslist isn’t an option for you, you may want to look elsewhere online. Half.com is a great place to sell used books and textbooks. You list your items on their site, and once someone buys the book, you pay shipping costs and send the book to the buyer. However, be aware that the prices you will receive are less than what you would get on other websites, especially after Half.com takes out their commissions and seller fees.

Amazon.com is perhaps the best site I have found to sell used books and textbooks. Your books will bring a higher price, and the commissions and seller fees are very reasonable. You can also get paid within a few days of your sale, which is great for students who are on a budget. Simply log on to their website, list your books, and once they sell, you ship them to the buyer and get paid. It’s quick and easy.

Another great place to look to when you are selling used college textbooks is AbeBooks.com. When you visit their site, you can enter the ISBN numbers of the books you wish to sell. They will give you a quote. If you like the quote, you can ship your books to them FREE. Once they receive your books, if the books meet their quality standards, they will pay you for the books, and you are done. However, if your books do not meet their quality standards, they will NOT send them back to you. They destroy your books, and you are out the books and the money. I do not recommend this site unless it’s a last resort.

Also try ecampus.com for selling your used books and textbooks. As with other sites, you can enter the ISBN numbers of the books you wish to sell. I also do not recommend this site unless it’s a last resort.

And finally, check into Bookbyte.com for selling your used books and textbooks. Again, this site is the same as the previous two sites. You visit their site, enter the ISBN numbers of the books you wish to sell. This is another site that you don’t want to use unless you really need money, and are willing to lose your book if it doesn’t meet their standards.
