Vintage Tea Cup Wall Art Project

Milk Paint, Tea Cups

This is a great Vintage Tea Cup wall art project that can be interchanged with other Vintage Tea Cup throughout the year. I love collecting vintage mismatched teacups. I find them at flea markets, yard sales, and antique shops.

This simple display case allows you to display your Vintage Tea Cups and change them out as you buy more! This way you never have to take this project down! It is simple to make, no woodcutting is involved if you have your board precut the home improvement store.

Overall, this Vintage Tea Cup themed project should take you less than three hours and cost about $50 or less. If you have to go out and buy a bunch of Vintage Tea Cup you will obviously spend the whole $50.

To Make a Vintage Tea Cup Wall Art Project You Will Need:

Vintage Tea Cups (You Decide how Many)

Birch Plywood Board (Size to be determined by you)

Fancy or vintage screw in teacup hooks

Scissors

Needle

White Milk Paint (or your color of choice)

Wood Gel Stain (optional)

Paint Pens (Variety of colors)(optional)

Drill with a large inch drill attachment to drill a hole

Large Piece of 2 to 5 inch wide ribbon.

The first step is to determine how large you want to make this wall Vintage Tea Cup art project. It can be as large or as small as you want. In this case I will be making a 3’X3′ Vintage Tea Cup wall art project.

Now, lay your piece of birch plywood out on a flat work surface. Roll on a coat of milk paint. I like to put mine on with a paintbrush for a more rustic, country, vintage look to go with my vintage kitchen and vintage kitchen accessories.

Let the paint dry completely.

You can rub the wood stain on to age the milk paint and give it a vintage or time worn look.

Once you have finished antiquing your Vintage Tea Cup boards, and then lay them back on the flat work surface. Use your drill attachment to drill two whole about two inches down form the top of the board. They should be placed about 6 inches apart and be centered on your board.

Wipe way any dust and debris. You can paint in the hole if you want.

Loop your large wide ribbon through each hole starting from the aback of the board. Tie them in front in a bow. Trim the ends as needed. Try to use retro or vintage ribbon or fabric.

Once that is finished you need to decide where you will be place your teacup hooks. I like to use decorative vintage looking teacup hooks that screw in. You can fin a variety for teacup hooks at Lowe’s and Home Depot.

I like to make an even grid of hooks. Most of my Vintage Tea Cup are about 3″X4″ so I keep that in mind while spacing the hooks.

Mark the spots with a pencil point dot. Use your small drill bit to pre drill a tiny hole. Then screw in your teacup hooks.

Hang a Vintage Tea Cup from each hook! You can display your Vintage Tea Cup collection and use them at the same time.

I love to use a mix of Vintage Tea Cups for this vintage inspired project. I also like to change out the decorative ribbon occasionally, sometimes even to suit the season.
