Comparing Age Defying Makeup Foundations: Cover Girl, Maybelline and Signature Club A

Beige, Radiance, Signature Club A, Sunscreen Protection

Finding the right foundation for aging skin can feel like an exercise in futility. I have pretty much tried them all and found most of them left wanting. There are three, however, that actually work:

Cover Girl’s Advanced Radiance Age-Defying Makeup;

Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Foundation; and

Signature Club A’s Over 40 Vitamin C & Silicone Soufflé.

Advanced Radiance claims that it ” will take five years off the look of your skin.” For me, it did; and then some. I honestly hadn’t seen a youthful glow like that on my skin for many years.

Made in conjunction with Olay, Cover Girl’s Advanced Radiance is a smooth and creamy liquid foundation with a little kick of amino-peptide. For those who may not have heard, amino-peptide is an amazing ingredient that softens the look of lines and wrinkles. Combined these two ingredients soften and cover those little flaws that you don’t want the world to see; leaving you with a youthful, radiant appearance.

Advanced Radiance has an SPF sun protection of 10 and is even safe for sensitive skin (like mine). It is oil free and feels like heaven when you put it on, leaving the skin silky smooth and soft.

Advanced Radiance comes in multiple colors, which include ivory, natural ivory, warm beige, buff beige, creamy beige, natural beige, creamy natural, medium light, soft honey, classic tan, tawny, toasted almond, and soft sable.

The foundation comes in an easy to use pump bottle that holds one fluid ounce. It currently retails for $7.99 and can be purchased at most stores that carry makeup.

I really love this makeup. So far, it is by far my favorite current beauty product. However, I’m still looking for something that works exactly like this one but that you can’t “see” on the skin. This one, however, is pretty close to perfection at four out of five stars.

Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Foundation contains micro-pearls that really do give a youthful luminescence to the skin; making the complexion look years younger, much brighter, and more radiant over all. Injected with caffeine, Age Rewind also gives the appearance of firmer looking, more alive skin.

Age Rewind has a stronger sunscreen protection than Advanced Radiance, with an SPF of 18. It comes in multiple colors including porcelain ivory, classic ivory, natural ivory, nude, creamy natural, sandy beige, pure beige, medium beige, honey beige, tan, caramel, and cocoa.

The foundation comes in standard bottle with one fluid ounce of product. It retails for around $9.99 and can be purchased at most stores that carry makeup.

This one is probably my least favorite of the three being reviewed here. I find it a bit heavy for my particular type of fragile, aging skin. However, I suspect other women will find it absolutely perfect. It definitely lives up to its claims to “turn back time;” easily making skin look between three and five years younger. I give it three out of five stars.

Signature Club A’s Over 40 Lightweight Vitamin C Silicone Soufflé Foundation used silicone to help fill in fine lines and wrinkles to make the skin a beautifully flawless canvas. The vitamin C infused into the foundation nourishes aging skin, leaving it soft and supple.

On the downside, Vitamin C Silicone Soufflé only comes in one color, which is a kind of medium beige. It works well for my light to medium skin but may not work for those who are very pale or for women of color.

The foundation comes in a one-ounce bottle and has its own applicator. Unfortunately, it isn’t cheap at over $20 per bottle and it can only be purchased on line through Home Shopping Network or other shopping sites.

This is a pretty good product, although not as good as Advanced Radiance. I love the soufflé light cream that glides easily onto the skin without tugging or otherwise damaging it. It feels good and leaves a very natural looking flawless complexion. I give it three and one-half out of five stars.

Head to head, here is how the products compare:
