Mention ‘Cold Stone Creamery’ to someone and you will most likely receive, “WHERE??!!” This business has a reputation for giving customers one of the best tasting, creamiest ice creams anywhere. It is a fun place to go, and the variety of choices is phenomenal. There is something for everyone at Cold Stone Creamery. What makes Cold Stone Creamery so hot?
First, a bit of background history on Cold Stone Creamery. It was founded in 1988 in Tempe, Arizona by a couple with a passion for fun and ice cream. In fact, the company’s mission statement is “to put smiles on people’s faces by delivering the ultimate ice cream experience. They have a passion for people, success, and ice cream. Its name is derived from the fact that the ice cream delicacies are mixed together on a chilled granite stone. The first franchise opened in 1995. There currently are 1,000 stores open with more expected.
Upon entering the site, customers are greeted enthusiastically by servers. “Have you been to Cold Stone Creamery before?” asked the server. If the answer is no, a brief explanation of what is offered at the Cold Stone Creamery is given. Customers are told about the ice cream makings, mix-ins available, creations available, etc. Customers are directed to a colorful menu board which contains the variety of creations available. Or, one can create their own. It is both fun and informative. It can be rather overwhelming for the first-timer, however. If desired, samples are offered. Even if the visitor is a repeat customers, samples are enthusiastically given. Be prepared for variety!
Cold Stone Creamery is noted for preparing their ice cream and dairy delights onsite. One can definitely taste the freshness! And, the flavors are more defined than other brands. For instance, the Mint ice cream has the most refreshing taste of any mint ice cream I have had. There are the standard ice cream flavors in addition to special ones. For instance, wasabi ginger was the featured flavor when I went in. Before you cringe, try it! You will be delightfully surprised. I was very surprised at the sweetness and pure pleasure of this unique flavor combination!
What is the process of deciding which creation you desire?
First, customers decide which flavor to choose. They can even divide their order in half. If one wants vanilla and coffee, no problem. The choice is your decision.
Secondly, customers choose either a Cold Stone Creamery Creation from the menu board or choose their own. This is where the mix-ins come in. (If a customers wants simply ice cream with no mix-in, this step is avoided). With a variety ranging from fresh fruit, nuts, marshmallows, candy, etc. to choose from – it is difficult to decide. There are more choices here than I have ever seen! Having decided on a mix-in, the ice cream is taken to the cold stone. The mix-ins are added in now.
In the midst of deciding which mix-ins (if any) to order, the server asks what size you are interested in. There are three serving sizes. Like It (small), Love It (medium), and Got To Have It (large).
Customers can watch the mix-ins being folded into the ice cream while it is being done. It is fun to watch! The times I have been there, the ice cream is folded with the mix-ins by the same person who took my order. All the while the mixing occurs, the server is making friendly conversation.
After the mix-in process is done, the delicacy is put into your desired serving size container. Of course, lids are available for take-out. Another benefit of this eatery is the fact that there usually are places to sit and enjoy your succulent Cold Stone Creamery delight. Sites are known for having both interior and exterior seating. How nice is that? Knowing how busy it is, you may have to wait for a seat..
Of particular delight, is whenever a customer leaves a tip in the jar, the crew break out into a song. It was unexpected, but enjoyed, when it happened while I was there.
Do not despair if ice cream is not your favorite. Cold Stone Creamery has something for you. Cold Stone Creamery also offers a wonderful variety of scrumptious smoothies. How about a refreshing smoothie known as ‘2 to Mango’? It consists of fresh mango puree, pineapple, and sorbet. Or, the ‘Citrus Sensation’ consists of sorbet, pineapple, lemon and orange juice. There are many more varieties available.
Cold Stone Creamery also offers ‘no sugar added’ ice creams. They have frozen yogurts that are simply delicious!
Banana splits, shakes, and other treats are also available. Just look on the menu board!
Other offerings of Cold Stone Creamery consist of a Birthday Club (any age, not just kids!) and Gift Cards. Their ice cream cakes are both eye-appealing and tasty! Cakes flavors include devil’s food, red velvet, and yellow. Wow!
NOTE: When one views the prices alone, they appear high. Having said that, once tasting the delicacies offered at Cold Stone Creamery….who cares???!!
