This restaurant is located inside the Drake Hotel, and is known for its classical elegance. Locals like this restaurant because of its toasty atmosphere. Some of its well-known foods are its Dover sole, coconut shrimp, baked Chilean sea bass, and the boiled Pacific Red Snapper. The room is decorated like the old shipping days, complete with red and white checkered tablecloths, wooden beams, and weather vanes. The service here is excellent, as they always get your food as soon as possible. Make sure you dress business-casual, and reservations are required.

The environment may not be very formal, with its year-round Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling, but its food will definitely surprise you. It’s famous for its succulent snow crab legs, served with butter and lemon. Most people working there are extremely nice, and you could make conversation with them anytime. Dress casually, and reservations are not accepted. According to a reviewer on 10best.com, “The Half Shell is one of me and my wife’s favorite place to eat and we’ve been going there for over 6 years now at least a few times per year. We would enjoy our experience there even more if that grouchy waitress didn’t work there. If you’ve ever been served by her you’ll know what I am talking about. I would give this place at least 4 stars just for value and ambiance alone…not necessarily for the food quality.”
