Dealing with Large Breasts During Pregnancy

Large Breasts

Always having been a fairly large breasted girl with a small frame by the time I became pregnant with my second son I felt entirely unporpotionate. I had gained three whole cup sizes and horrible back pain while losing a great deal of self confidence. I felt as if my chest was being stared at all the time, and as a result made my back pain worse by slouching so it didn’t look as if I was trying to “stick them out. Now well past postpartum but still breastfeeding I’ve come to terms with having larger than average breasts for my build and learned to deal with them. Here are tips from my experience with dealing with large breasts during or after pregnancy.

Invest in a good bra

There very first tip for dealing with large breasts during or after pregnancy is to invest in a good bra and be sure that bra fits. You may seem a little silly having yourself fitted for a bra but you’d be surprised how many women end up wearing the wrong size. In my case my band size and cup size were a rare combination so for along time I was too cheap to pay for a custom bra and wore the wrong size in one way or another often. I can say with all the certainty of a labor contraction that having a one good bra that costed a lot but fits right is worth an entire drawer of cheaper bras that don’t fit right or are poorly made. If you can’t find a good bra in your local stores consider online shopping or have some made for you.

Don’t slouch!

Large breasts can cause back pain to begin with, slouching will worsen this pain and can also lead to a long list of medical issues including head aches, fatigue, muscle , tissue, internal organ, nerve and skeletal damage. It is not worth even one check on that list of possible side effects to not have some probably jealous girl accuse you of “sticking out your chest. People that stand tall radiate confidence and yes, on occasion attract some negative attention and/or envy.

Dress appropriately

While hiding your large breasts during or after pregnancy or slouching is unnecessary it is important you think about the clothing you are wearing . If you have an E cup and wear a low cut shirt it’s naive to assume that people won’t look, your putting them out there. I do feel your pain. I found shopping very difficult as even shirts that were not made to show a good deal of cleavage will on a more endowed woman. I also found myself having to buy clothing in larger sizes that were too big everywhere else simply to fit into the chest. Always try clothing on before buying it.

One good trick I found for making some outfits more everyday appropriate was to wear a thin close fitting tank top under my clothing. I made a point to stop and look at myself in the mirror before I left home and ask, “If I saw me, what would I think? Would I want others thinking that?”. If you are short (like me) also consider what the birds see.

In clothing we find one advantage to having large breasts after pregnancy, they often are larger than even a post partum tummy. This leaves you the option to wear clothing that fits tight in the chest and then hangs free making a beautiful way to hide that remaining baby weight until you can lose it.

It’s mainly in your head

This is something it took me a long time to understand. I was so self conscious about my own appearance I didn’t realize the person that had the biggest issue with my appearance from big boobs to stretch marks was me. Once I came to terms with the way I looked, I realized not everyone was staring as well as considered they may not be staring in disapproval.

Women come in all shapes

Lastly remember that whether your breasts after pregnancy are little, big, stretch marked, saggy, covered in veins, or squirting milk women come in all sizes and shapes.
