C.O. Bigelow’s “My Favorite Lip Balm”

C.o. Bigelow, Wheat Germ

C.O. Bigelow’s “My Favorite Lip Balm” is hands down one of the best lip balms I have ever experienced. This lip balm is sold at Bath & Body Works retail stores, outlets, and online, as well as at C.O. Bigelow Apothecary stores.

My Favorite Lip Balm’s star ingredients are shea butter, sweet almond oil, and wheat germ oil. The balm contains 5% shea butter, 2% sweet almond oil, and a touch of wheat germ oil. The first ingredient listed on My Favorite Lip Balm’s ingredient list is petrolatum, and this balm is therefore very similar to your basic petroleum jelly. You can think of it as a super enhanced petroleum lip product. The shea butter just adds an extra softening and soothing bonus. The package blurb says, “Our lip balm provides soothing relief for dry parched lips. We add nourishing shea butter, sweet almond oil, and wheat germ oil to condition and comfort lips in need of immediate care.” The lip balm directions say, “Glide some on anytime your lips are in need of moisture. Absorbs quickly and readily.” The package also has advice from the C.O. Bigelow pharmacist: “Use our lip balm every day for healthy looking lips. Also recommended for use under or over lip color. You can even dab a little on your eyebrows to calm strays.” I wouldn’t use lip balm on my eyebrows, but that’s just me. My Favorite Lip Balm is fragrance free, contains no artificial colorants, and is not tested on animals.

My Favorite Lip Balm is available in two different packages: a .5 oz. plastic jar and a .5 oz. squeeze tube with a slanted tip applicator. Both package varieties retail for $5.50 regularly.

I have both packages of My Favorite Lip Balm and they each have their advantages and disadvantages. I like the jar because it’s easier to tell how much is left in the container, it’s easier to control the amount of balm you put on your lips, it’s bigger so it doesn’t get lost as easily, and the packaging is solid hard plastic. The disadvantage to this container is that the balm must be applied with your finger and some people don’t like doing this. The bulky size may also be a downside for some people. The advantages to the tube are the small size that fits almost anywhere and the slanted tip applicator which means no balm has to touch anywhere but your lips. It’s hard to tell how much balm is left in the tube until it may be too late. I’ve also found that after keeping the tube in your pocket for an extended period of time, the balm gets very runny and is a mess to try to get onto your lips.

I have extremely chapped lips and My Favorite Lip Balm has been amazing. This balm leaves my lips feeling soft, smooth, and moisturized.

In summary, C.O. Bigelow’s My Favorite Lip Balm is an amazing lip product for everyone, male or female, severely chapped lips or not
