Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein Mocha Cappaccino is a drink I came upon through an epinion I saw written by ifif1938 (eiffelvu on ACMedia) on the Epinions pages. I am a chocoholic as well as a caffeine fan. I also adore Starbucks since they offer all that and more. I have a Frappacino every day. I started buying the Starbuck’s Mocha Frappacino and the Coffee Frappacinos in Costo by the case. I take one bottle add it to about a half glass of crushed ice, whip it n my blender at home and I have a much lower calorie version of the Frappacino I’d been buying every day at Starbucks. I do miss the comraderie there but this is so much easier, less gas, less mileage on the car and certainly very readily available.
Bolthouse is a family owned business that is in it’s fourth generation. They are in San Joaquin Valley, California. They are top quality flash filling their drinks and cold filling them for quality. This means they are using extremely sterile conditions for producing and bottling their drinks.They also produce a phenomenal array of fresh vegetable and fruit drinks. As for the Cappuccino style drinks they make Hazelnut Latte,Vanilla Chai drinks as well.
I read about the Bolthouse Farms 42 g protein mocha drink. It was reviewed by ifif1938 on Epinions (Eiffelvu on ACMedia). She and her hubby owned a health food store in Miami at one time so she recognized a good healthy drink when she saw one. This drink is made from high quality 100% natural ingredients . It contains whey protein, 100% Arabica coffee, Madagascar Vanilla Extract (the best Vanilla extract), and Premium Cocoa. The bottle is large with a brown screw cap. There is a picture of the Vanilla Beans and Vanilla flowers on the back and you can read all about the product on the bottle. It piqued my interest right away because I love a good coffee drink., one that offered healthy ingredients was a bonus drink. I am a long time fan of Starbuck’s Frappuccino so I had to do the comparison and taste test.
This drink offers 150% of Vitamin C, 150% of B6 and 150% B12. There are no preservatives, it’s an all natural drink. There are no artifical ingredients, no addtional fat or sugars. It has 18 Amino Acids and is a good source of Potassium plus 7 vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients Mocha Cappucino,Low Fat Milk Arabica Coffee,, Natural Flavor Vanilla Extract (Madagascar), Cocoa, , Apple Juice Concentrate, Milk Whey Pectin,Gum Acacia, Calcium Phosphate, Zinc, Vit. C, Magnesium Vit B6,, Zinc, Vit B12 and 12 amino acids. I was surprised at the apple juice in the ingredients. I certainly didn’t taste that in this drink but it’s another healthy ingredient.. Arabica coffee is a slightly caramel tinged flavor. This is enhanced by the Madagascar Vanilla. As for the coffee content you get 60 mg of Caffeine. A brewed cup of coffee is 115 mg.
To drink your Cappuccino drink you simply shake the contents and serve. I blend it with ice. You can drink it as is. I found the taste to be a little bit on the sweet side but that being said, that isn’t a bad thing for most people. I did not see the amount of Caffeine per drink but I did get my little buzz. When I blended the Bolthouse Farms Cappuccino with ice it was very thick inconsistency and I think the Vanilla Extract was the key note. It was like drinking a thick malted.It required a large straw.It was also extremely filling. It’s really a delightful drink prepared this way. It was much more a cocoa flavored drink straight from the bottle. Both drinks woud be excellent as popsicles. The Bolthouse drink was as I said like a malted and this lasted all the way through the drinking procss. The Starbuck’s becomes more liquid as you drink it, losing the malted texture. The Starbucks Frappuccino drink is thinner when prepared with ice but nice and rich straight from the bottle with more emphasis on the coffee flavor. It gives you a good caffeine jolt.

My feelings on the two products compared comes down to taste and health benfits. Obviously the Bolthouse brand Cappuccino drink is healthier, offers high protein whey , 12 amino acids, apple juiceand more. I give the Starbuck’s Frappacino in the bottle a slight edge on the strength of the flavor of the coffee. Coffee drinks like Frappuccinos or Cappuccinos are a matter of individual taste preference. Thes two drinks were really neck and neck for me. This was my first taste of the Bolthouse Brand and I was very impressed.
