Best Bars in Cumming, Ga

The best bars in Cumming, Ga. all have a few things in common; great draft selections, a dinner menu that keeps people coming back and an upscale, but casual atmosphere. The best bars in Cumming, Ga. are The Ridge, Good Ol’ Days and Summits Wayside Tavern.

Good Ol’ Days, located at 409 Cumming, Rd. is one of the most relaxed bars to just sit back and have a good time. They have something going on every night of the week and open mic night is my favorite because it’s always entertaining to watch people get up in front of a crowd to make them laugh, think, or scratch their heads and wonder, what just happened? Good Ol’ Days also has a trivia night which is always fun when friends come along. Trivia can be habit forming, which is fine with me since it encourages learning. Live entertainment includes acts like Andrew Back N’ Pine City and Ralph Roddenbery for those nights when you just want to kick back and listen with a plate of all you can eat crab legs for $18.95. The pub selection is wanting for nothing, so be prepared to order your all time favorites. Karaoke and dart tournaments are also a regular thing at Good Ol’ Days, so no two nights are the same. The staff stands out as one that enjoys the atmosphere as much as the patrons, which is what makes this bar a place that feels like home after a crazy work week. I like the outdoor patios, especially when spring is in the air and everyone is gathered together with nothing but good times on their minds.

The ridge, located at 1035 Turner rd., Cumming, Ga. is an upscale party for those who love dancing, excellent food and a huge variety of drinks to get the fun started. Manuel Covington performs all the Rat Pack favorites, Mowtown and Soul every Saturday night until about 10:30, then “DJ” Starnes plays the latest hits for anyone who needs to get out there and shake it. I love to dress up and go dancing, but when I’ve had enough, it’s just as entertaining to watch everyone else’s moves on the floor. The Ridge not only has every libation imaginable, they also feature a menu with a fresh catch of the day that never disappoints. It truly is upscale drinking and dining at moderate prices. The best part is that no matter how much you eat, you can work it off on the dance floor. On Wednesdays, they have a Martini Margarita and seafood extravaganza from 5-9 p.m. Their seafood is absolutely some of the best I’ve ever had, especially the Alaskan Snow Crab legs. This bar also features a family night on Thursdays with BBQ pork chop or baby back ribs for $10.95.

Summits Wayside Tavern, at 525 Lake Center Parkway is a casual bar catering to the public with a cozy neighborhood atmosphere. Their draft beer selection covers the globe and also includes specialty seasonal selections. Every day of the month they feature a draft pick designed to inspire the season or upcoming holiday. Their spring crawfish boil is not to be missed, and their regular Beer Tastings are a great way to unwind with friends. What makes this bar one of the best bars in Cumming Georgia is their continued effort to honor every day with a thoughtfully selected draft to celebrate the moment. For earth day, Summits Wayside offers Peak organic Ales that you can’t find just anywhere. They will soon celebrate Sierra Nevada’s 30th anniversary by tapping kegs of “Fritz & Ken’s Ale”. These creative events are what keep Summits Wayside customers coming back. Their menu also aims to please and my favorite dish is their baked grouper. It’s lightly seasoned with their famous 23 Ingredient Blend which is now available to the public for $4.99.
With each of these three best bars in Cumming, Ga. you can’t go wrong, but plan your next night out with one thing in mind, don’t become the next statistic in the local newspaper police blotter. Never drink and drive, always designate a driver and stay safe!
