Located on 2619 West Main Street, Avalon has only been around for 16 years in the Fan District of Richmond. It is certainly a popular dining establishment for trenders, and it has received numerous awards including the Platinum Plates Fine Dining Award.

Tappas, which are trial portions of dishes, are available as you will have a hard time choosing from the large number of different selections which range from soups and salads to appetizers to main entrees. The restaurant itself is for night owls, and is open from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM every day and happy hour is between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM during the weekdays.

Avalon restaurant in Richmond features a bar, which has a large selection of microbrews and imported beers with weekly specials and more than fifty different brews to choose from.

One side of this restaurant has a large sit down bar that you can stand in, while another offers table seating. The walls are decked out in movie star photos and Avalon is usually hopping on the weekday nights, especially because they stay open so late, when most other restaurants are closed.

Avalon is a more upscale restaurants that offers a number of exotic selections, with vegetarian dishes including buttered brussel sprouts with toasted pine nuts, asparagus puree topped with parmesan, and cauliflower and wild mushroom gratin with cheese, among many other vegan dishes.

In terms of meat dishes, their grilled filet mignon with cauliflower mashed potatoes and port wine shallot is especially excellent, and their duck confit with goat cheese, lemon flat bread, and frisee is also pretty good.

There are also a wide variety of different salads that appeal to more exotic pallets such as sautéed calamari, and watercress with sorrel, with all of the salads decked out in a variety of different cheeses, vegetables, and dressings.

Avalon restaurant also features a large variety of seafood dishes from fried calamari to tuna tartare, and grilled sushi tuna.

Noted for its excellent service and upscale atmosphere, Avalon restaurant has a reputation of being one of the best bars and spots in Richmond, especially for seasoned restaurant veterans who have a sophisticated pallet.
