Amazing Savings in Monsey, New York Lives Up to It’s Name

New York

A wonderful little store I discovered about 15 minutes from me is Amazing Savings in Monsey, New York. I live across the broder n New Jersey and have been making the little trip here for years. This is a store in a Hasidic area, run by Hasidim and this makes it a great place to visit on Sundays when I have time on my hands. Because of religious law they are closed sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday for the Sabbath.

It isn’t a large store but it’s always well stocked. Because it is a close out/odd lot based store it always has new and different items. This is part of the thrill of the hunt when I go there. When you see something really terrific, snatch it up. It may not be there next visit.

The store is tucked back off of busy Route 59 in Monsey. It’s tucked back so you have to watch for the sign The parking is easy, always. The ara is a bit seedy but the store itself is basically clean. The merchandise is kept neatly, not thrown around and it’s rare to find something without a price on it.. Things are easy to find.

When you walk in there are aisles in front of you and always a rounder or stack of items just as you walk in. One time it’s puffy vests, another time end tables. The first aisle to your right has more expensive items behind glass in cabinets. Maybe collectible dolls, better watches. This aisle has crystal, not expensive crystal just attractive simple crystal like cake stands, platters. It has frames, silver look serving pieces and entertainment items. The next aisle is usually seasonal, Christmas as well as Hanukah, Easter as well as Purim. The next few aisles are devoted to kids toys, infants, boys, girls, dolls, games and baby paraphenalia. The games are always reasonable $2.99, $4.99 for each game. Great for Birthdays and Christmas shopping Barbie dolls and Bratz can be found here with accessories. Stuffed animals are here.

Next comes make up, perfumes, hair dyes, scissors, make up mirrors, mascara, lipsticks, foundations, opposite that are pajama bottoms, socks, slipper socks and mittens, scarves, bras, and t shirts. There’s clothing for men, women and children.

After that comes household, kitchen goods, paper goods, every imaginable paper plate, plastic ware, napkins, servers, chargers, inexpensive pots and pans, bowls and dinnerware. I’ve basically replaced my every day china with heavy duty Melamine from this store. Each plate and bowl was around $1.99.

You can find rounders of reading glasses, end caps of barrettes, key chains, battery operated back massagers (got that for my son for a stocking stuffer). another end cap has pet toys, another has back packs.

There is an area of masking tape, stationery, batteries, paper clips, pens, calculators, file folders, organizers sort of like a mini Staples only at bargain prices. This area also has car care items.

One aisle is foods, cookies, candy, chocolates, spices, and the like. all fairly well known brands at extremely reasonable prices.

Along the back wall you have picture frames, baskets, large aluminum cooking pans and small aluminum serving pans. The last aisle has more of these as well as candles, plug in room scents that sell for about $9,99 or more are only $2.99 with a refill, decorative gift bags that run as low as .69 each. I found the celar plastic you wrap gift baskets in for $1.99 a box. The same box was $10.99 in The Party Store.

The check out area has lot of small items and the wall opposite that has decorative home items, door mats, decorative boxes, bird houses. The gals at the registers know their prices no matter what you bring up and 99% of the items are always marked. It’s very rare to finds something without a price.

Whether or not you know your prices you will always walk out with a bargain here. There are never long lines so its perfect for avioinding crazy Holiday mall shopping. They open at 9 A.M. The merchandise changes so there is always something special to be found. It’s great for stocking up for school for the kids, gift purchases, stocking the kitchen, replenish your make up and more. I highly recommend this little hidden gem.
