A Warm Welcome to Zumba on Kinect

Kinect, Zumba, Zumba Fitness

Most of you have heard of the dance exercise craze, Zumba. I myself have struggled with weight management since I was in the tenth grade. When I first heard of Zumba I thought to myself “well it sounds like fun, but I really do not want to pay and go to class.” Are you in the “I really don’t want to go to a class yet, or I don’t really want to sweat with others” boat? Easy fix for that my fellow weight holders, in comes the Xbox Kinect. As an expectant mother, going to Zumba classes did not appeal to me, so I went out and purchased Zumba Fitness.

My short story and enthusiasm for Zumba Fitness Kinect comes from me losing 25lbs in three and a half months from doing Zumba for one hour, four times a week. Getting pregnant, I thought, would be the end of my hard work. Not true. Three months into my pregnancy I had lost another 8lbs, now almost six months along, I have only gained 3 lbs and my baby is perfectly healthy and growing. This was all possible from just twenty minutes, four times a week. For a while I was so concerned that my lack of weight gain would affect my baby, but according to the doctor at our twenty week ultrasound, everything looked great. Not only is my baby healthy, I feel great. If you are a pregnant woman wouldn’t you love to have energy, continue toning muscle, continue losing fat, and get weight off faster after birth?

The average cost of a single Zumba class is $3-$10. From looking around and asking friends who attend classes I have found that most gyms and fitness centers have monthly fees plus the cost of the classes. In addition to paying for membership and class, most only offer two classes a week. If you, like me, know that it will take more than two classes a week or maybe want to mix it up a bit (at home and classe), I would recommend the Zumba Fitness on Xbox Kinect. I have been able to do Zumba in the privacy of my own home and four times a week. The average cost for the Xbox with Kinect bundle is $300. Zumba Fitness for Kinect is around $40.

Yes, getting the Xbox Kinect and Zumba Fitness is more expensive for start up prices, but a year paying for only two classes a week (without membership costs) on the lowest class price is $288 and the highest class price is $480. Let’s face it, Xbox Kinect can be enjoyed for more than a year, plus you can get your whole family up and active with games that xbox offers with kinect.

One perk from this besides fitness is the lovely app called kinect Video (available when you have Xbox Live). You can video chat with others that have Kinect live as well and if you have friends with the same games, you can play and even workout together.
