5 Scholarships for Hispanic / Latino Students

Are you searching for scholarships focused on helping Hispanic students? Are you a high school senior and looking for ways to help pay for college? Or, is your son or daughter considering college, and you are looking for financial aid opportunities? Here are a few scholarships for future college students who are Hispanic..

Hispanic College Fund

The Hispanic College Fund provides numerous scholarships yearly to students in need. They offer the First in my Family Scholarship Program for Hispanics who are the first one in their family to attend college. The amount varies from $500 to $5000. The Hispanic College Fund also provides the Hilton Family Diversity Scholarship Program. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund awards between 2900 and 4600 scholarships every year. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, have references, and write an essay. The deadline is usually in March every year. For more details, visit the the Hispanic Scholarship Fund website here.

Adelante! Scholarships

Another scholarship resource to consider is the Adelante! Fund Scholarship Program. Approximately 20 students every year receive scholarships up to $3000. Recipients must agree to attend a leadership institute and training program. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA. To date, they have awarded more than $1,000,000 in scholarships. Youth Opportunities Foundation (California Only)

The Youth Opportunities Foundation provides scholarships for Hispanic/Latino high school students that rank in the top 10 percent of their class. They also must score at least 1000 on the SATs, demonstrate leadership skills, and be involved in their community. They provide at least 100 scholarships yearly to students in California. Gates Millennium Scholars Program

Another scholarship program for Hispanic students is the Gates Millenium Scholars Program. This scholarship is also available to native America, Asian American and African American students. They provide over 1000 scholarships yearly of various amounts. For more details, visit the website here. It is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Vikki Carr Scholarship Foundation (Texas only)

If you are a resident of Texas, apply for the Vikki Carr scholarship. Applicants must be high school seniors and Hispanic. They require an essay, financial need analysis, transcripts and test scores. Visit the website here (be sure to scroll down) to learn more.

Los Padres Foundation Scholarship (New York and New Jersey only)

This scholarship is limited only to students who are the first in their family to attend college. You must also be a resident of New York or New Jersey. They provide over twenty-five scholarships for freshman students. The amount varies from $2000 to $3000. For more details on this opportunity, visit the Los Padres website here.
