5 Best Products for Dry, Damaged Hair

Brittle Hair, Bumble and Bumble, Hair Serum, Organix, Sunsilk

No one finds dry, brittle hair attractive. While some of us have naturally dry hair, others have damage as a result of over heating, chlorine, perming or dying. I have extremely dry hair, and it can be impossible to work with sometimes. Luckily, I have an army of products on hand to combat the frizz and restore the hydration and shine to my damaged locks. These are the products I find to be the most effective at not only making dry, brittle hair look great, but also repairing and reversing damage and split ends.

Organix Coconut Hair Serum. This is by far the best product I have ever used on my hair, and with only a $6 price tag, it’s one of the best smoothing serums you can find at a drugstore. This stuff does wonders at restoring shine and it also seals split ends. I use it every day after I wash my hair by working a dime sized amount through the ends while my hair is still damp. This serum also has a delicious, coconut smell, and works best when paired with other Organix products. just be careful not to apply to much to your hair, or else it can cause your locks to look greasy and weighted down.

Sunsilk 24/7 Creme. I have tried dozens of leave in conditioners over the years, and I have found this to be the only one that made any noticeable changes to my hair. It made my hair extremely soft, and it locks in moisture working around the clock for a full 24 hours. I use it right after I use my Organix serum, and then blow dry my hair as usual.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. This hair mask deep conditions like no other I have ever tried. I simply use it in place of my usual conditioner 2 to 3 times a week and that’s all it takes. Simply apply it all over your hair while washing your hair and allow it to sit for a full three minutes. Before I started using the 3 minute miracle, my hair was so dry it would fall out excessively. Since I started the mask treatments, the amount of hair in my brush is noticeably less.

Redken All Soft Heavy Cream. I love this conditioner because it doesn’t leave any residue in my hair and it never weighs my lock down. It is great at toning down frizz and leaving your hair soft and easy to control.

Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo. Generally, if you have dry, damaged hair, shampoo is an enemy. It strips many of the oils you need to lock in moisture out. However, this shampoo is specifically formulated to act gently on hair and to restore moisture and shine alongside conditioner.

Try to avoid using heat on your hair as much as possible if it is extremely damaged. I learned this lesson the hard way after blow drying, curling, and straightening my hair on a daily basis. Try to blow dry your hair as infrequently as possible and give your hair a break from straighteners and curling irons for a little while. If you absolutely have to use heat styling on your hair, opt to use the lowest heat setting possible.
