Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Weightless Anti Frizz Serum – Review

Fructis, Garnier Fructis

I’m going to be honest I stole Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Weightless Anti Frizz Serum from my little cousin Kristina. She has extremely woolly, thick, curly hair. Thicker than mine, and honestly I did not think it was possible for someone to have hair thicker than my mess on top. But unlike my hair, Kristina’s hair was always done up in a curly style; it was always neat, shiny, and gave off a sweet honey comb scent.

I was jealous. While I was hanging out with her sister, I went into her room and saw a bunch of beauty and hair products on her counter. I noticed that the bottle of Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Weightless Anti Frizz Serum was half empty, so odds were, this was the magic goo that created this lovely shine, and left the lovely scent behind.

Now, I wouldn’t necessarily call it stealing, because her sister (my other cousin) told me to take it, as she too helped herself to a few products and perfumes. Yes, the beauty of sisterhood.

According to the small bubble shaped bottle I could apply Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Weightless Anti Frizz Serum to either dry hair or wet hair. The results would be shiny, super soft, and super smooth! Oh boy! Oh boy!!!! It also claimed to nourish hair, and tame frizz with it’s light weightless formula.

I pushed down on the pump and used only about a dime amount. I applied only to the middle of my hair and the ends. I know that if you start from the roots you could end up looking like a grease ball.

The gel…or oil…or whatever it is?

Yeah that stuff. It is crystal clear and has a greasy oily feel to it, which I was not too happy with. Hair shining serums I have used in the past had a similar texture but not this oily.

The scent:

So fresh and so clean! It was not the honeycomb scent though that I usually smell when she walks by me. Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Weightless Anti Frizz Serum smelled more like grass mixed with a very, very light citrus undertone. Combined grass and oranges smells pretty dang good. Like some tropical exotic seaweed.

My Use:

I rubbed it throughout, and looked in the mirror. Oh yes, my hair was shiner, however it only was shiny in the areas that got drenched in the formula. I pumped out some more and added it throughout my hair again. This time it was clear, my hair was shiny, but felt like I had just dipped it into a vat of fry grease. Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Weightless Anti Frizz Serum was far from being a light weightless product, like the bottle claims.

It was about an hour later that my whole head felt like a greasy grimy dirt pit. I could not wait to get home and shower it out. It was apparent that I had perhaps used too much; so my plan this time around was to use only a little bit on my hair after showering.

I did just this, and let me say that the results sucked just as bad as they did when I used it on dry hair. After applying smaller amounts and my hair began to dry it felt like it was still wet. Uch, the grease!

Overall:

Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Weightless Anti Frizz Serum smells nice, but seriously you cannot over do it. Even using the tiniest of drops in thick hair like mine causes the hair to look and feel like an oil slick. Using this on thinner hair could cause awful nasty unwashed hair like results.

Recommendation:

No. No hair type. Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Weightless Anti Frizz Serum is straight up nasty in a jar. You can get the same results by dipping your finger into a bottle of vegetable oil and putting it in your hair.

Packaging:

I want to make sure you don’t pick this one up by accident… Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Weightless Anti Frizz Serum is sort of hard to miss. It is a transparent green bottle shaped like a bubble. It has a hot green colored pump on top, and comes with 5.1 ounces of serum.

Note to self:

Return bottle of oil to Kristina’s shelf.
