Nashville Humane Association
The Nashville Humane Association is one of the oldest service organizations in Nashville. It is a non-profit affiliation and was incorporated in 1946, to protect the well being of animals in Davidson County. The Nashville Humane Association’s Mission Statement promises to be committed to, promoting humane treatment of animals, finding good homes for stray or abandoned dogs and cats, educating the community on their responsibility to help control the ever growing pet population, and providing treatment to animals in our community. Over 2,500 healthy and loving animals are placed in wonderful homes each year. There are volunteer opportunities as well as foster care connections if you are interested.
Love At First Sight
Love At First Sight, puppy and kitten adoption center has been a staple in Nashville since,1995. The purpose of opening this amazing center was to make sure healthy unwanted kittens and puppies were placed with responsible pet owners. The great thing about Love At First Sight is that you will get an estimated bill for all costs before you agree to adopt. If you happen to have a litter that you need to put up for adoption this is an excellent choice.
Happy Tales
Happy Tales Humane was created in 1996 to provide the area with an animal shelter that does not use euthanasia to make room for additional animals. They also operated as a ‘virtual shelter’, housing every animals in devoted foster homes, until 2000 when a shelter for the cats was opened in Franklin. All of the dogs in the adoption program are still kept in foster homes, though the goal is to one day open a shelter where both cats and dogs can be housed on-site. All funding is through tax-deductible donations. Happy Tales is dedicated to improving the quality of life of animals in Middle Tennessee by rescuing, caring for, and finding adoptive homes for unwanted pets by encouraging volunteerism; and by educating the community about responsible pet guardianship.
Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary
Freedom Farm is a non-profit organization committed to rescuing abused, abandoned and neglected animals in and around Middle TN. Proper pet care and advocate spaying and neutering to help stop pet overpopulation, are highly encouraged. They currently use a system of foster homes to house all the animals. We are committed to long-term care and placement of all animals that come into our organization. Euthanasia is absolutely not practiced as a means of population control. Volunteers are so important to Freedom Farm if you have some spare time you should consider helping out.
Rock N Acres Animal Rescue
Rock N Acres Animal Rescue was founded in 2002 by animal lovers who longed to help animals of all kinds.They have rescued every type of animal from pooch to pony and delivered them into wonderful and forever homes. Their mission is to train, rehabilitate, and work with rescued animals on a one-on-one basis. Rock N Acres specializes in troubled or problem” animals. It is privately run and depend on volunteer and foster homes. No animal is ever turned away, they rescue, reptiles, birds, rodents, livestock, cats, dogs, etc. They are also a non kill organization can’t help themselves. The animals who are rescued are treated with respect and well cared for until a forever home is found.
