1) Healthy Foods

Eating healthy is essential to live a healthy lifestyle, because your diet is what fuels your life. Your diet should contain a balanced proportion of protein, fibre, vitamin, mineral and fluid. Nutritious and balanced meals can help in reducing your blood cholesterol, managing your weight, controlling your blood sugar and blood pressure. Avoid skipping meals and do eat regularly.

Consume a variety of healthy foods which include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, cereals, breads, legumes (beans), lower-fat milk products, low fat oil, lean meats, foods prepared with little or no fat. Consumption of foods that are more natural and with less chemical content should be encouraged. Reduce the intake of salt, alcohol, caffeine, junk foods.

2) Increase Water Intake

Increase the intake of water as water is the best and the healthiest drink. Avoid soda, carbonated drinks or iced tea. Carbonated drinks contain a large amount of sugar and carbohydrates which can later be transformed into fats. Iced tea also contains ample of sugar which can pile up in the body. Green tea can be taken as it aids the digestive system.

3) Sufficient Sleep

Sleep is essential for people of all ages. Adequate sleep helps in increasing one’s ability to fight diseases, improve cardiovascular health, mood, ability to concentrate, learning and memory in addition to reducing irritability and impatience. The absolute amount of sleep needed varies from person to person.

4) Lifestyle Choices

As it is observed that longevity depends on lifestyle choices, hence, it is essential to highlight good lifestyle choices and de-emphasize the poor ones. Good lifestyle choices include eating healthy food, performing regular physical and mental activity, getting enough sleep, minimizing stress, etc.

Poor lifestyle choices which are to be de-emphasized are – to limit or reduce high fat foods; limit empty calories – those from sugar, fat and alcohol; quit smoking and using tobacco and limit the amount of inactivity.

6) Regular Exercise –

There are several benefits of regular exercising, such as increases energy level, promotes weight loss, strengthens bones and the body, promotes better breathing and cellular activity and even reduces the risk of certain diseases. While you exercise, your body releases different chemicals into your bloodstream which make you feel better.
