You start with lectures and pool sessions for eight weeks then move on to open water diving lesson, on any weekend you can. Then you go to get certified. This is one of the most reasonably priced of the scuba lessons programs, the instructor has forty five years experience and there is a special price if you are a member, which might not be a bad idea, if you are not already. The Y has some great programs going on all year long.

Boston Harbor Diving Company has both group and private scuba-diving lessons available all year long. They take students as young as twelve. You can start out getting certified at the beginner level and go all the way up to professional, if you find that scuba diving is the one thing and the only one thing you want to do. The course takes less than 25 hours and is a combination of lectures, pool dives and finally open water scuba diving lessons. United Divers has as scuba diving program for children 8-12 where they can take a try diving session, sort of try before you buy.
