So, you are searching for a suit, for a man, and you do not want to spend a fortune for it? Well, you are not alone there, especially with the economy the way it is today. Maybe I can help you out a bit and point you in the right direction to find something a little less costly. We are all familiar with places like S&K; and JoS. A Bank’s. Sure you can buy a suit there, and a nice one at that, but it will probably cost you the proverbial “arm and a leg.” At least for something you normally purchase right off the rack. S&K;, in particular, can and does run some nice sales from time to time. The downside is that you will have a limited selection. The upside is that they advertise and you can watch for their sale papers or TV ads.
Thinking “outside the box” and getting away from the specialty clothing stores may save you a few bucks. Let me suggest a couple of places you may not have thought of right away.
Burlington Coat Factory usually has a section of sports coats and suits for men. Their prices are normally way lower than regular stores too. The up side is the price. The down side is a lack of selection and you must be careful of the quality. Plus you are probably not going to find good service from a knowledgeable employee. At least this has been my experience.
Value City also has a selection of suits, sports coats and other dress attire for men. They usually have a larger selection than Burlington but, again, you have to watch the quality of what you are buying. On the up side, the Value City’s I have been in tend to have an employee dedicated to the men’s dress clothing section and who is very knowledgeable about his merchandise.
For a more “regular” store a man might try Kohl’s department stores. Their selection is small but they usually do have a few men’s suits available and are not as high priced as a specialty clothing store.
Now here is one I would never have thought of myself a few months ago. Recently Wal Marts have been stocking some basic men’s suits. Nothing fancy, pretty much just business attire but they do have them. Needless to say they are also lower priced than a specialty store.
There are probably other stores out there, depending on your area of the country. I live in central Virginia and these are the places I have experience with here. Shop around, be careful in your purchasing and you may find that you can save a lot on a new suit.
