Water Purifier Installation Tips

Purifier, Water Purifier

If you are planning on installing a water purifier, first read the ten tips below to help your project flow with ease.

Tip 1 – Decisions
You first need to decide what type of water purifier you and your family are wanting. There are so many different choices out there that you need to make sure you research each product carefully and pick the very best item that is going to fit your need and budget.

Tip 2 – Supplies
Each water purifier that is offered on the market has different installation steps that you will need to complete. Each step requires certain types of tools. Consult the owners manual for your water purification for the right tools you will need to complete your installation process. It is better to have all these tools ready to use before you start installing your water purifier so you are not running back and forth to the tool box the whole time.

Tip 3 – Equipment Check
The water purifier system you bought will have an owners manual inside the box. On the installation page you will see a section that shows you all the parts that are included in the water purifier. Make sure you double check to see if you have all the washers, bolts, screws and items they said are in the box. If you a missing part, contact the manufacturer to send you the missing part. Do not try to substitute the missing part for an item you may have in your tool box. Each item has an important factor for your system that can not be replaced with a substitute!

Tip 4 – Warranty
Your water purifier will come with a product warranty and/or a recall card. The tip for this is to fill it out as soon as you can! Most people will just through the cards and paper away and when their product either quits working for some reason they are out some great amount of money because they will end up having to replace it all on their own. If a recall occurs then the owner may not hear about it because they never sent in the card to allow them to be contacted when a recall does happen. The little things you can do will make a big difference in the end.

Tip 5 – Where To Put It
You will need to decide which sink you are going to work with. If you have a newer home, more then likely you will have an extra hole next to the sink sprayer that is covered up with a plug. If this is your case, then you can just pop that plug and place your water purifier in the extra hole.

If you are living in a older home you may not have that extra hole and you will either one, have to use the sink sprayer for your hole or two, drill a new hole. If you are going to use the existing hole in which your sink sprayer is in, you will need to remove all of those components first. If you need to make a new hole ink your sink area then refer to the operation manual for the size of hole you will need to drill before installing your water purifier. However, before you go removing any sprayer or drilling any holes, make sure you check out tip six!

Tip 6 – No Water
Once you have figured out which sink you will be applying the purifier to make sure you cut off all water supply to the purifier. Shut off both hot and cold water supplies. I know most manuals will tell you to only shut off the cold water supply, however I like better to be safe then sorry.

Tip 7 – Drainer Please
You will want to clear any faucet lines that have water in them before you install your purifier. Make sure you have covered the area under your sink with towels and a bucket to catch the water so the mess can be a minimum. Drain those faucets completely and then pour out the old water from the bucket, but leave the towels down in case there in another mess when you turn your water back on.

Tip 8 – Tap In
In order to tap into the cold water supply line you will need to install a saddle valve. In order to install the right size saddle valve and in the right way, you will need to refer once again to your owners manual for your water purifiers procedure in doing this.

Tip 9 – Follow Instructions
Since each water purifier comes with different sets of directions that have different way to install their product I can not tell you exactly how to install the water purifier that you bought, however my tip during the process of installing your actual purifier is to follow the directions down to the tee. Make sure if you have any questions to contact the help hot-line they have provided for you or check out the manufactures website for many questions and answers they will have!

Tip 10 – Let The Water Flow
Once you have completely installed the whole water purifier and everything is in its place, turn your water supply back on slowly. You will want to watch for leaks. If a leak occurs while you are turning the water back on, then quickly turn the water off and find the source of the problem. If there are no leaks, clean up your mess and enjoy your handy work!
