The Darke County Fair is held annually in Greenville, Ohio. This year, the great fair begins on August 17 and runs through August 25, 2007.

The Darke County Fair has something for everyone. Held just days before local schools open their doors, the Darke County Fair is a fantastic way to finish out summer break with the kids. Even a local library closes the week of the fair. Nobody wants to miss out on the excitement of the Darke County Fair!

Friday August 17th, a cheerleading competition will be held. Children from around the area have been practicing their cheer routines for months in preparation for the event. You won’t want to miss it.

If cheerleading is not your thing, try a tractor pull. This thrilling motor sport is held on Tuesday, August 21st. Every tractor imaginable will be there. From antiques to hot rods, the whole family will enjoy the tractor pull at the Darke County Fair. Come cheer on your favorite John Deere, Case, or Oliver.

Tuesday night, bring the kids out for some barnyard fun. The event is fun for the children, but plan to get dirty. The kids will love the egg contest. Barnyard races and other events is fun for spectators of all ages.

Do you enjoy a parade? Thursday August 23rd, the parade will be rolling through the fairgrounds. All of the traditional excitement you expect from a parade will be there. Floats of all varieties carrying members of local 4H and Scouts will grace the parade route. You may even catch a glimpse of a fire truck or two.

Follow the parade to the fair where you can enjoy some of that great fair food. Maybe you want an elephant ear or funnel cake. A refreshing lemon shake up is a must.

After a snack, cruise through the 4H booth exhibit. The exhibits are filled with the projects the 4H youngsters have completed over the last few months. You will find the handcrafted woodworking projects from Clover Buds in grade school to the fine-tuned hand of high school children. Sewing projects are also available to view, just to name a few.

Sunday night, August 19th, several children will be reviewing their projects. Kids will strut their stuff on the runway and show off their hard work for parents, friends, and judges. The project review is a great opportunity for children. Adults will love checking out all of the hard work the kids have put into their projects.

Terri Clark will be featured this year at the Darke County Fair. The concert on Sunday will fill the grandstands with fans of all ages. Come enjoy the country music and thrill of a live concert.

What fair would be complete without animals? Whether you are a cowboy or city slicker, you will love to peruse the animal barns at the fair. Pet a cow or sheep. Maybe you could even milk a goat. Animals at the fair exhibit the highest quality products of the area. Watch the animal shows to find out the champion of the Darke County fair in each class.
