Go Wild at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Six Flags

No matter where you live in the US there is a Six Flags theme park not to far. If you live in Northern California the local Six Flags theme park is Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. The park used to be known as Marine World before the Six Flags company bought it and finally changed it to its new name. It is unique to the other parks because of its emphasis on animals. So how does this park compare to the other parks? You will need to keep reading to find that out.

The park used to have a much greater emphasis on animals but once Six Flags started operating it before they bought it they started adding more rides beyond the animal theme. For those who enjoy animals though you should not worry they did not take away any animal attractions to make room for the rides. Adding rides just helped to bring more interest and more visitors to the park. The great thing about this park is parents can fill good about taking kids to the park because they will be giving them an educational experience and not just taking them to another theme park.

The animals will not interest older visitors as much as the rides. Kids love the animals though. Even adults and teens can enjoy the animals as a side attraction. The Shark Experience is a popular animal attraction which is pretty good but not on par with the Sea World equivalent. The dolphin show is also popular. Penguin Passage is another popular animal attraction. Unlike Sea World though there are animals beyond the aquatic kind. Though they have plenty more and many aquatic attractions similar to Sea World. They have Tigers, Elephants, Giraffes and more. Not only can you see the animals but they also have shows with them too. There is also lots of educational side things for kids to do when they are at the exhibit.

Kids will not only love the animals but they will love their own little areas. There are a couple different areas just for kids. There is a Looney Tune area with rides and attractions. Two popular attractions at the Looney Tune area Acme Water Works an interactive water play area, and Acme Foam Factory another interactive area that kids and parents can play together and shoot foam balls kind of like Nerf on steroids.

There is also a Thomas land nearby that kids will love. There are even zones for the older kids who may not be ready for the wild adventures of bigger siblings. Jungleland offers rides that the whole family can enjoy together. Jungleland has some kid only rides but it also has rides mild rides that all can enjoy along with one mildly wild ride.

For the big kids who want fun and excitement there are plenty of options. Roar is one of the best wooden roller coasters around. Kong and Medusa are also pretty good roller coasters. There are a few other coasters but these are the three best. There are also a couple water rides one which is just a flume ride the other is a pretty good rapid ride.

There are other rides that are thrill rides but not roller coasters. Voodoo and Hammerhead are just a couple of the thrill rides that Six Flags Discovery Kingdom has to offer.

As you can see Six Flags Discovery Kingdom has something for the whole family. Not only is Six Flags Discovery Kingdom a theme park but it is also a zoo and educational experience too.
