There are many fun and unusual things to do in Austin, Texas here are my top 10 attractions that you should be sure not to miss when in Austin.

Austin Duck Adventures

This tour is a 75 minute sightseeing tour in an unsinkable Hydra Terra Vehicle. The highlights of the tour are the Capital, 6th street and Lake Austin. Tours are available seven days a week during late morning and early afternoon.

Austin Steam Train

The Austin Steam Train runs year round and has many excursions available, to include children themed excursions and adult murder mystery excursions. Fare amounts very by excursion so make sure to check in advance for tickets and pricing.

The Bats at the Congress Avenue Bridge

This area includes 697 acres of protected land as well as the bat cave. Open from March to October this location has the largest concentration of mammals in earth. The bats exit the cave near dusk and is a site and sound that must be experienced as it cannot be explained.

Inner Space Cavern

Just 24 miles north of Austin, this naturally formed cavern has existed for millions of years and was found in 1963 by Texas DOT workers, truly a wondrous site. Tours are 75 minutes long and cost $9.95 for children (4-12) and $17.95 for adults.

The Dinosaur Park

This Park features dinosaur replicas complete with skin. This was truly an awe inspiring park for me and my friends and will be for young and old with fossil digging, picnic areas and a playground.

Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farm

The past returns. Half day summer camps are available. Exhibits include many necessary pioneer skills to include, harvesting demonstrations, quilting, blacksmithing and woodworking as well as cooking.

Lonestar Riverboat

Public and private tours on an old fashioned paddle wheeler harkens back to an era long gone. These tours are a nice mingling of the past and the present as you view Austin’s skyline from this majestic vessel.

Museum of the Weird

This is a terrific attraction to visit and can be found in the back of Lucky Lizard curios and Gifts in downtown Austin. This is like Ripley’s Believe it or Not on steroids. You won’t be disappointed. Open daily from 11 to 11 $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for children eight and under and $4.00 for students.

Natural Bridge Caverns

One of Texas biggest and greatest attractions, The Natural Bridge Caverns, has over 10,000 different formations in underground chambers for your amazement and enjoyment. Tours are given daily and activities include mining and gold sluicing. Price of admission for children 3-11 is $14.95 and for adults 12 and up the cost is $26.95.

Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch

This ranch is home to over 50 species of animals from all parts of the world. The safari drive is by far one of the best I have participated in. The safari is truly as close to being in Africa as you can get without boarding a plane. Prices range from $.50 to $18.50 and the ranch is open 362 days a year.
