Uno Chicago Grill Deep-Dish Pizza Vs Little Caesars Deep-Dish Pizza

Chicago Pizza, Deep Dish Pizza, Little Caesars

Pizza is becoming as American as Apple Pie. There are so many varieties: thin crust, deep dish, and cheese stuffed crust just to name a few. Who knows where the best pizza is? I decided to start comparing so I could tell you which pizza is best.

I decided to start with deep-dish pizza. For that I visited two of our favorite restaurants, Little Caesars Pizza and Uno Chicago Grill. For this experiment I bought the same size and I the same toppings, pepperoni and bacon.

Usually Little Caesars will deliver but I lived a town away so I had to go into the restaurant pick up the pizza. Uno Chicago Grill doesn’t deliver but they do have curbside delivery. If you give them the make and color of your car, you just need to park in the special spot and they will come out and give you your order. You don’t have to get out of the car.

Size

The first thing I noticed was the size difference. I ordered the largest size for both and the price was comparable so I expected pretty much the same deep-dish pizza. When I got our Little Caesars pizza, it was pretty much what I expected, a large square pizza with crust thicker than their normal pizza. I was surprised at how small the large pizza was at Uno Chicago Grill. It was round and thick, thicker than the Little Caesars pizza. But it was small. It was about half the size of the Little Caesars pizza. I later found out that the largest deep-dish pizza at Uno Chicago Grill is meant to only mean to feed 2-3 people.

Crust

The first thing I tasted was the crust. Instead of starting at the tip, I wanted to compare the crusts without our taste buds being tainted by sauce and toppings. The Uno Chicago Grill deep-dish pizza crust was unbelievable. It was soft and flaky yet it was thick. It tasted like an un-greasy bread stick. Little Caesars crust was the opposite. It was hard and chewy when you bit into it. There was a lot of grease on the crust so it had a hint of greasy pizza when you chewed it.

Cheese and Toppings

I was hoping to get chicken on our pizza but I couldn’t because Uno Chicago Grill offered chicken but Little Caesars didn’t. I thought that it wouldn’t be a fair comparison between the two.

Besides the shape and size of the pizza, the toppings gave the pizza a different look. The Little Caesars deep-dish pizza had a lot a cheese with not as many toppings. The toppings were spread out throughout the pizza. There was also a lot of grease on the pizza. There were a few small puddles of grease on the Little Caesars pizza.

The Uno Chicago Grill deep-dish pizza was the opposite. There was a lot of toppings and not as much cheese. The cheese held the toppings together and you could still taste the cheese but Uno Chicago Grill seemed to put more emphasis on the toppings rather than the cheese. There was minimal grease on the Uno Chicago Grill pizza and no puddles at all.

Sauce

For some the pizza is all about the sauce. There was a huge difference on the sauce Little Caesars pizza, which was prevalent throughout most of the pizza. The Little Caesars pizza sauce had a little bit of an Italian kick to it, which was delicious. The places that were missing sauce were dry and bland compared with the rest of the pizza.

The Uno Chicago Grill sauce had a very different texture. There were chunks of tomatoes in the sauce. The Uno Chicago Grill sauce did not stand out because it just blended into the pizza. But there were no dry spots where sauce was missing.

Overall Taste

After all the initial analysis was done, I was able to just enjoy eating the pizza. I started with the Little Caesars pizza. It was good; you could still taste the grease. The toppings were spread out so you could taste what you were biting into. Each bite was a little different.

There was a problem with the cheese. There was too much cheese and it stuck together even if you tried to bite if off. After a couple bites into a slice almost all the cheese was gone and I was left with a cheese-less pizza slice.

The Uno Chicago Grill pizza was unbelievable. The crust just melted in your mouth, and the cheese, toppings, and sauce blended together so Ill that you didn’t want to try to taste them separately. Every bite was pure pizza heaven. The cheese on the Uno Chicago Grill pizza didn’t cause any problems. There was not too much of it so the cheese and toppings all stayed in place bite after bite.

Cold and Reheated Pizza

Everybody loves leftover pizza. And these two brands were good the next day. Neither brand lost flavor by sitting in the fridge. The Little Caesars pizza crust was even tougher and chewier the next day. The dog got a pizza crust treat because the day-old crust was too hard to eat. The Uno Chicago Grill pizza was delicious the next day and was still flaky. The crust from Uno Chicago Grill lost some of it’s softness but it was still delicious and comparable to the toughness of the Little Caesars crust when the Little Caesars crust was fresh.
