Top Ten Songs by the Steve Miller Band

Old El Paso, Smb, Steve Miller

I have been a big fan of The Steve Miller Band for a long time. My favorite song, as with many SMB fans, is The Joker. But, I love pretty much everything they’ve done. I just like their sound.
Below are the ten songs I like the best by The Steve Miller Band. Along with the title, I have also included the year it was released, the original album it was on, and the full lyrics.

The Joker

Some call me the gangster of love

Some people call me Maurice

Cause I speak of the pompitous of love

People talk about me, baby

Say I’m doin’ you wrong, doin’ you wrong

Well, don’t you worry baby

Don’t worry

Cause I’m right here, right here, right here, right here at home

Cause I’m a picker

I’m a grinner

I’m a lover

And I’m a sinner

I play my music in the sun

I’m a joker

I’m a smoker

I’m a midnight toker

I sure don’t want to hurt no one

I’m a picker

I’m a grinner

I’m a lover

And I’m a sinner

I play my music in the sun

I’m a joker

I’m a smoker

I’m a midnight toker

I get my lovin’ on the run

Wooo Wooooo

You’re the cutest thing

That I ever did see

I really love your peaches

Want to shake your tree

Lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey all the time

Ooo-eee baby, I’ll sure show you a good time

Cause I’m a picker

I’m a grinner

I’m a lover

And I’m a sinner

I play my music in the sun

I’m a joker

I’m a smoker

I’m a midnight toker

I get my lovin’ on the run

I’m a picker

I’m a grinner

I’m a lover

And I’m a sinner

I play my music in the sun

I’m a joker

I’m a smoker

I’m a midnight toker

I sure don’t want to hurt no one

Wooo Woooo

People keep talking about me baby

They say I’m doin’ you wrong

Well don’t you worry, don’t worry, no don’t worry mama

Cause I’m right here at home

You’re the cutest thing I ever did see

Really love your peaches want to shake your tree

Lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey all the time

Come on baby and I’ll show you a good time

  2. Fly Like an Eagle (Released: 1976 Album: Fly Like an Eagle)

Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’

Into the future

Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’

Into the future

I want to fly like an eagle

To the sea

Fly like an eagle

Let my spirit carry me

I want to fly like an eagle

Till I’m free

Oh, Lord, through the revolution

Feed the babies

Who don’t have enough to eat

Shoe the children

With no shoes on their feet

House the people

Livin’ in the street

Oh, oh, there’s a solution

I want to fly like an eagle

To the sea

Fly like an eagle

Let my spirit carry me

I want to fly like an eagle

Till I’m free

Fly through the revolution

Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’

Into the future

Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’

Into the future

Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’

Into the future

Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’

Into the future

I want to fly like an eagle

To the sea

Fly like an eagle

Let my spirit carry me

I want to fly like an eagle

Till I’m free

Fly through the revolution

Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’

Into the future

Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’

Into the future

  2. Jet Airliner (Released: 1977 Album: Book of Dreams)

Leavin’ home, out on the road

I’ve been down before

Ridin’ along in this big ol’ jet plane

I’ve been thinkin’ about my home

But my love light seems so far away

And I feel like it’s all been done

Somebody’s tryin’ to make me stay

You know I’ve got to be movin’ on

Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner

Don’t carry me too far away

Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner

Cause it’s here that I’ve got to stay

Goodbye to all my friends at home

Goodbye to people I’ve trusted

I’ve got to go out and make my way

I might get rich you know I might get busted

But my heart keeps calling me backwards

As I get on the 707

Ridin’ high I got tears in my eyes

You know you got to go through hell

Before you get to heaven

Big ol’ jet airliner

Don’t carry me too far away

Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner

Cause it’s here that I’ve got to stay

Touchin’ down in New England town

Feel the heat comin’ down

I’ve got to keep on keepin’ on

You know the big wheel keeps on spinnin’ around

And I’m goin’ with some hesitation

You know that I can surely see

That I don’t want to get caught up in any of that

Funky shit goin’ down in the city

Big ol’ jet airliner

Don’t carry me too far away

Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner

Cause it’s here that I’ve got to stay

Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner

Don’t carry me too far away

Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner

Cause it’s here that I’ve got to stay

Yeah, yeah yeah, yeah

Big ol’ jet airliner

Don’t carry me too far away

Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner

Cause it’s here that I’ve got to stay

Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner

Carry me to my home

Oh, Oh big ol’ jet airliner

Cause it’s there that I belong

  2. Jungle Love (Released: 1977 Album: Book of Dreams)

I met you on somebody’s island

You thought you had known me before

I brought you a crate of papaya

They waited all night by your door

You probably wouldn’t remember

I probably couldn’t forget

Jungle love in the surf in the pouring rain

Everything’s better when wet

Jungle love it’s drivin’ me mad

It’s makin’ me crazy

Jungle love it’s drivin’ me mad

It’s makin’ me crazy

But lately you live in the jungle

I never see you alone

But we need some definite answers

So I thought I would write you a poem

The question to everyone’s answer

Is usually asked from within

But the patterns of the rain

And the truth they contain

Have written my life on your skin

Jungle love it’s drivin’ me mad

It’s makin’ me crazy

Jungle love it’s drivin’ me mad

It’s makin’ me crazy

You treat me like I was your ocean

You swim in my blood when it’s warm

My cycles of circular motion

Protect you and keep you from harm

You live in a world of illusion

Where everything’s peaches and cream

We all face a scarlet conclusion

But we spend our time in a dream

Jungle love it’s drivin’ me mad

It’s makin’ me crazy

Jungle love it’s drivin’ me mad

It’s makin’ me crazy

Jungle love it’s drivin’ me mad

It’s makin’ me crazy

Jungle love it’s drivin’ me mad

It’s makin’ me crazy

  2. Serenade (Released: 1976 Album: Fly Like an Eagle)

Did you see the lights

As they fell all around you

Did you hear the music

Serenade from the stars

Wake up, wake up

Wake up and look around you

We’re lost in space

And the time is our own

Whoa, whoa

Iiiiiiiiii

Did you feel the wind

As it blew all around you

Did you feel the love

That was in the air

Wake up, wake up

Wake up and look around you

We’re lost in space

And the time is our own

Whoa, whoa

Iiiiiiiiii

The sun comes up

And it shines all around you

You’re lost in space

And the earth is your own

  2. Dance, Dance, Dance (Released: 1976 Album: Fly Like an Eagle)

My grandpa, he’s 95

And he keeps on dancin’

He’s still alive

My grandma, she’s 92

She loves to dance

And sing some, too

I don’t know

But I’ve been told

If you keep on dancing

You’ll never grow old

Come on darling

Put a pretty dress on

We’re gonna go out tonight

Dance, dance, dance

Dance, dance, dance

Dance, dance, dance

All night long

I’m a hard working man

I’m a son of a gun

I’ve been working all week in the noon day sun

The wood’s in the kitchen

And the cow’s in the barn

I’m all cleaned up and my chores are all done

Take my hand, come along

Let’s go out and have some fun

Come on darling put a pretty dress on

We’re gonna go out tonight

Dance, dance, dance

Dance, dance, dance

Dance, dance, dance

All night long

Pick on

Dance, dance, dance

Dance, dance, dance

Dance, dance, dance

All night long

Come on darling, don’t look that way

Don’t you know when you smile

I’ve got to say you’re my honey pumpkin lover

You’re my heart’s delight

Don’t you want to go out tonight

You’re such a pretty lady

You’re such a sweet girl

When you dance it brightens up my world

Come on darling put a pretty dress on

We’re gonna go out tonight

And dance, dance, dance

Dance, dance, dance

Dance, dance, dance

All night long
