Top Ten Gift Ideas for Eight-Year-Old Boys

Outdoors Activities

This was an easy question for my 8 years boy: what toys are the best these days? His eyes opened widely and he started to talk about gifts fast, and with a confidence that remind me to an executive CEO explaining his business to a group of possible buyers. I wished secretly he always talk like that at the school when they ask him in science class. Whatever, the boy gave me his gifts’ list for the Holidays, and here it is, check it out.

SPORT SHOES WITH WHEELS. Yes, I know in a couple of months will not even fit, but what do you want, boys love them, and a gift is a gift. They are easy to use, with a movement or their feet the wheels come out. They are easy to find, go to whatever sports store, Toys’R’us, or Wall Mart. The price is high, for the ones of us who are always checking cheaper prices: the Heelys are the most popular and cost 69.99 dollars. I would have a talk with the user boy about the use and abuse of this toy, because the wheels are not for use everywhere.

ELECTRONIC GAME PLAYERS, now it is the time they come all new to the market. We have the DS, with dual screen. They are more complicated and sensitive than the classic Game boy toy. The top DS electronic game can have wireless and the kids can talk between them. The games cost around 30 bucks, and the market is full of them. You can buy them almost everywhere, in Wall Mart, they have them for 149.36 dollars, and the Lite DS game costs $119.00. At Amazon, I saw the Titanium model for 95.00 dollars, used. Still, this DS is cheaper than the Play Station 3, with will be more that 300.00 bucks (if you can find it). Play Station 3 is also very cool, but very expensive.

3. ROBOTS, they are very cool toys, and are plenty to choose from. The Robosaurus Roboreptile is amazing, with 40 preprogrammed functions, three different moods and he can run or walking. It costs at Wall Mart 99 dollars. The Roboraptor is more economic, $50, and you can go for the robopet (like a puppy), for 50 dollars.

4. LEGOs, kids can build with Legos the spaceships from the movies, (like Star Wars or Pirates of the Caribbean), there are many different models, and you can find them at Toys’r’Us, Wall Mart or almost every toy store. Legos can cost from 6.99 dollars the simplest ones, to 50.00 the more complicated. Vikings are also on fashion, with obviously Viking theme, or the Batman ones.

5. METAL DETECTORS, like Treasure Robot Finder, from Vintage, are very cool toys. You can find them in many toy store, and they help kids to do outdoors activities.

6. TRADING CARDS, some kits come with nice folders, bunch of different cards and instruction on how to play and how to keep a succesful collection. The latest is the Yu-gi-oh thing, or Pokemon, but kids can share with their parents their baseball card collections.

7. BOXING SETS for the very active children, we must start early to share with the children the importance of exercise and fitness, and (this is for us, the parents), help them to relief agresivity.

8. MODELING DOUGH, there are many on the market, and some are pretty easy to clean and storage. There is the liquid foam, or the Moon sand, which is similar to play dough, but with incredible shining colors, and does not stick or stain (yuhuuu). Some sets come with tools, and cost arond the ten dollars the cheapest ones. This gift is very good to work on your child fine motor skills.

9. GAME BOARDS. The game board for excellenceis the Monopoly, and children have their own versions of the classic. The Monopoly Junior is like the classic, but smaller, and costs 10.99 dollars. More fancy is the Sponge Bob Square Pants with the cartoon characters, for 28.99 bucks, or the Here and Now Edition, very pretty, costing 24.99 dollars. We can loose it and buy the Pirates of the Caribbean Collectors Edition, for 35.00 dollars. They have also the Star Wars ones, and the Nintendo. You can go for checkers, chess, or whichever that matches your kid’s tastes, gameboards improve the mind agility, memory and discipline.

10. SKATEBOARDS are always kids’ favorites. If your boy is a starter skateboarder, you can buy him the Schwinn Model 102, is cool, well built and costs 24.99 dollars. For pro skaters we have the Birdhouse Tony Hawk skate, for 99.00 bucks, and the new thing, the 14 wheelers, cool skateboards for do the best tricks, they have 14 wheels and allow 145 grades turns. Do not forget to buy the helmet, there are specific skateboarding helmets in the stores, and they cost around 40.00 dollars. There are plenty of accessories and DVD videos you can buy to complete your gift, like ramps, or clothes.

In addition, this is it, in my opinion would be necessary to add to this gifts list books and art toys, so make sure you do not forget them
