Top Five Restaurants in Westland, Michigan

Waitstaff, Westland

Hungry? There is no shortage of dining options in Westland. Here are my top five picks for the best restaurants:

5. Golden Chopsticks 1989 N. Wayne Road – (734) 722-9575
There are quite a few Chinese restaurants in Westland, but this one is my favorite. The food is really good, and the setting is elegent. There is a beautiful chandelier hanging in the middle of the restaurant that helps to set the mood. We’ve always had good service. I enjoyed their hot and sour soup a lot. It appeared that they had a good selection of sushi too. Check out their menu at www.thegoldenchopsticks.com. There is also an online coupon at the time of this writing.

4. Lakeshore Grill (at Macy’s) 35000 W. Warren Road – (734) 458-5400
The Lakeshore Grill is located inside the Westland Mall, but it’s not just a place to fill up after shopping til you’ve dropped. This is a destination in and of itself. Take the glass elevator up to the second floor, and the restaurant is right there. Ask for a table overlooking the mall. It’s fun and relaxing to sit and look out over the mall and people watch while you’re enjoying your lunch. Everything I’ve ever ordered here has been outstanding. My favorites are the cheese soup and oriental salad. Excellent! Prices are reasonable. I wish they had a menu online, but I couldn’t find one.

3. Beaver Creek 1609 North Wayne Road – (734) 722-5330
Beaver Creek is a bar and grill type of place. The atmosphere is rustic with hunting trophies, a fireplace, and TVs. It’s a nice laid back kind of place. The thing that makes it really great is the food, especially if you like meat. Everything I’ve eaten here was fantastic. They have great chocolate chip cookies for dessert as well. Go early to beat the crowds, and request a table near the fireplace.

2. New Mexico 35851 Ford Road – (734) 641-9455
I have to admit that I was a little worried when I walked into New Mexico for the first time. It is a very small restaurant, and when it’s busy it can feel overcrowded and noisy. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing meal, this is not really the place, but if you’re in the mood for great Mexican food, this place fits the bill. The waitstaff are very attentive. They serve you chips and salsa immediately after seating you, and it would be very easy to just fill up on that. They have very good chips and salsa, and the waitstaff will keep them coming. They have a family platter for around 20 dollars that was a big hit with my family of 4 and plenty of food. I also enjoyed their chimichanga very much. Portions were very large. Another thing I really liked was that I could choose fries and coleslaw instead of rice and beans as side items. That was a nice option. Bottom line here is great food, big portions, good service, reasonable prices. I highly recommend it.

1. Marvaso’s Italian Grille 6569 N. Wayne Road – (734) 405-5222
My number one pick for all of Westland is Marvaso’s. The atmosphere is truly relaxing with dim lights, good music, TV’s, and even fish tanks. They also have a bar. It feels elegant and casual at the same time. However, I really wouldn’t mind if this place had no atmosphere at all because their food is just so outstanding. Someone really knows how to cook Italian food over there. They have great pizza, pasta, seafood, chicken, and steak. We sometimes order their pizza for take out. It’s really good. My favorite dish is called paprika chicken. They also have the best cheesecake. I like the plain cheesecake topped with Saunder’s hot fudge. Another great thing is that they are always sending out coupons. I seriously spent less taking my family to dinner here once than we spent at Burger King. Great food, relaxing atmosphere, great prices. You can’t beat it.
