Top Country Music Songs of 2008

Best Country Songs, Country Music Songs, Country Songs, Top Country Songs

2008 was a wonderful year for country music. There have been a lot of new artists coming out each with their own unique sound. With all of these new artists coming, the future is bright for the world of country music. One of these artists has a song in at number ten on my list of the top country songs of 2008.

10. Stealing Cinderella by Chuck Wicks

I remember the first time I heard this song introduced, I was about to change the radio station because I didn’t recognize the artist or the song, but before I got a chance to, the song began to play. I knew instantly that this song would be a hit. The song peaked at number 5 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs. This is definitely a song you should listen to if you never heard it before and like slow ballads.

9. International Harvester by Craig Morgan

This is one of my favorite songs of the year. It has a unique sound to it that I really like. Every time I hear the song, it brings a smile to my face. The song peaked at number ten. I know some people may believe that this song shouldn’t be on this list but in my personal opinion, it was one of the best country music songs of the year.

8. Better as a Memory by Kenny Chesney

This is a personal favorite song of mine. It was hard not to be bias and put it higher. I relate a lot to this song and I am sure I am not the only one which could be one of the reasons is did so well on the country music charts. This song peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs. This song was the fourth single released from Kenny Chesney’s hit album, Just Who I am: Poets & Pirates.

7. Letter to Me by Brad Paisley

This was the third song released by Brad Paisley from his album 5th Gear. This is definitely an interesting song. It is about a man who writes a letter to himself back when he is younger. The song spent four weeks at number one on top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs in February 2008.

6. More Than a Memory by Garth Brooks

This song created a lot of stir when it debuted at number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. This was the first song at number one on a Billboard chart since 1998 for Garth Brooks. The song spent a total of twenty weeks on the Hot Country Songs.

5. Back When I Knew It All by Montgomery Gentry

This song wasn’t released until June but it definitely deserves to be in the best country songs of 2008. It became Montgomery Gentry’s fourth number one song on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs.

4. Cleaning This Gun by Rodney Atkins

This was the fourth single released from Rodney Atkin’s record If You’re Going Through Hell. Each of these songs was at number one at one time on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. I loved this song so much when I heard it, I bought tickets to a concert just to see him sing it in person and was it worth it!

3. I Still Miss You by Keith Anderson

This song quickly became one of my favorite songs of all time. I definitely relate to this song. It is one of my favorites to listen to when I hop into my car. It has been Keith Anderson’s best song yet. It climbed quickly up the charts and peaked at number two.

2. Our Song by Taylor Swift

At number two on my list is our first female. I originally had this song a lot lower but decided to move it up. The song spent six weeks at number one which made it more difficult to keep lower than some other songs. It was Taylor’s first number one song in her career. This song really helped sales on her triple platinum album.

1. All American Girl by Carrie Underwood

This is the second song from Carrie Underwood’s Album, Carnival Ride. This song has done unbelievably well on the internet over 700,000 people have downloaded it. The song also broke a record on television with 10 consecutive weeks on CMT’s Country Music Countdown.
