Tombstone Pizza VS. Freschetta

Pepperoni

Frozen pizza is essential and can usually be found in just about any home’s freezer. Sometimes we just don’t have time to cook a full course meal. So we grab a pizza and pop it in the oven. A few minutes later, we have dinner for our family. So which pizza is better, Tombstone or Freschetta?

First I will compare Tombstone and Freschetta’s different style pizza’s and what flavors they offer within each style.

Brick Oven: Freschetta’s brick oven style pizzas are thinner, with a fire-baked crust and a square shape. They come in the following six flavors: Portabella mushrooms and spinach, Italian style pepperoni, classic supreme, 3 cheese and bacon, Margherita, and 5 cheese Italian. Each sells for $5.99 regularly, but can be bought on sale for $4.99. Tombstone’s brick oven style pizzas remain round. They also come in 6 flavors: cheese, pepperoni, deluxe, sausage and pepperoni, classic sausage, and supreme taco. Tombstone’s brick oven style pizza’s are regularly $5.99, but can be bought on sale for $3.99. So Tombstone’s tend to run a little cheaper.

Original: Freschetta’s original pizza’s come in 8 flavors: Canadian style bacon and pineapple, 4 cheese, pepperoni, sausage, supreme, 4-meat, sausage and pepperoni, special and deluxe. The original pizza’s sell for $4.99. Tombstone’s original style pizza’s come in 12 varieties: Canadian style bacon, hamburger, sausage and mushroom, classic sausage, deluxe, 4-meat, pepperoni and sausage, double top pepperoni and sausage, supreme, double top sausage, pepperoni, and extra cheese. The original style pizza’s sell for $5.99.

Specialty pizzas: Freschetta has a specialty pizza called “Sauce Stuffed. It comes in 4 flavors: 4 cheese, pepperoni, supreme, and sausage and pepperoni. Tombstone has a few different specialty pizzas. First, they have a light veggie for vegetarians. Second, they have a harvest wheat thin crust in supreme, cheese, and pepperoni for those who prefer wheat. Third, they have 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas’. This is where one half of the pizza comes with one topping and the other half has another. There are four combinations in this category: pepperoni and cheese, pepperoni and supreme, pepperoni and sausage, and cheese and sausage. The prices for the specialty pizzas remain the same as the original pizzas.

Second, I will review taste. Taste is perhaps the most important factor in determining which pizza company to go with.

Taste: When it comes to taste there is one pizza that stands above the other. We love the Tombstone and here is why: Tombstone doesn’t over do it with the sauce and delivers lots of toppings. I hate buying a pizza, opening up the package, only to find that they skimped out on the toppings and over compensated with too much sauce. Then I find myself scrambling around the house trying to shred some more cheese and chop some more meat to add to the top. I bought the pizza because I wanted a fast meal. I don’t want to spend un-need time trying to fix up the dish.

If you are looking for variety, both companies have it. I do think that Tombstone has some healthier options if you need to go that route. On the other hand I feel that Freschetta has some unique flavors and combinations. My mother always liked the unique dishes, but I stick with the normal style pizzas and flavorings. That is why I like Tombstone better. I am not as adventurous as to try something like Freschetta’s Portabella mushrooms and spinach or Margherita. That is entirely a decision you and your family will have to make. There is not a huge difference in price unless the pizzas go on sale. I love a good sale, which is how I ended up trying both products. Now, whether it is on sale or not I buy Tombstone.
