Tips for Writing Greeting Card Messages

March Holidays

Writing messages in greeting cards is usually a difficult task. It’s hard to come up with something clever and interesting to write on the spot and if you’re like me you wait till the last minute to buy and sign the greeting card, which doesn’t leave much in terms of time. Writing your own message in greeting cards is a lost practice. What many don’t realize is by writing your own message you turn a greeting card into a treasured keepsake. People no longer take the time to write a personal message in card or use the excuse they don’t know what to write. These tips are here to help you write your own sentiments.
One of the hardest holidays for me is Easter because of the variety of messages that could be written. Easter is a time that fills us with hope and warmth. We surround ourselves with family and friends and celebrate this joyful time of year. How do you express these feelings in just a few lines? Here are a few tips I use when writing greeting card messages for Easter and every other holiday:

1. Take the time to buy a card with something already written inside that you like so you don’t feel the need to write something elaborate yourself. Short written messages tacked on at the end of whatever is printed are a great addition to any card.

2. When buying greeting cards take a few minutes to read the messages in a few others and if you like what you read, jot it down on a separate piece of paper and write it in the card at a later time. I’m not encouraging plagiarism but while reading other cards you could be inspired for what to write in your own card.

3. Search the Internet, especially e-cards, and see what’s being written. Here are two sites I usually look at:

http://www.easter-ecards.com/

4. Instead of writing a note find a poem that expresses your wishes and make sure to write the name of the poet along with the poem. A few websites I like to use are:
http://www.poemsource.com/Christian-easter-poems.html
http://www.alphabet-soup.net/eas/eastpoem.html

5. Remember to be sincere when writing your message. It doesn’t matter what you’re writing you don’t have to be eloquent or long winded just be sincere. Take the time to think it through then put pen to paper.

I hope these tips help you in your search for the perfect greeting card message. Each and every person you customize a message for will feel special and honored that you took the time and effort. My family and friends always appreciate when I write something in the card myself and I’m sure yours will too.
