It has become a tradition for gifts to be given out at the rehearsal dinner. Typically the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner are the night before the wedding. At the rehearsal dinner the bride will give her bridesmaid gifts, and the groom will give his groomsmen gifts. Other family members sometimes will exchange presents with the bride as well. In what has also become a tradition, the bride and groom will exchange presents. As a groom though, how do you decide what to buy as a wedding gift for your bride to be?
You need to consider what type of present you want to buy your future wife. When deciding on the type of present to buy you should consider the personality of your wife. Is she afraid that she will lose touch with her friends once she is married? Well, how about buying tickets for your wife and several of her friends to attend a concert, play, or other theatrical presentation together. Make it clear that this is for a girl’s night out after you are married and that you want the tickets used for her friends and do not want one used to include yourself. She will be very happy that you are not only saying you understand her desire for nights out with the girls, but that you are contributing to it as well.
Is your bride to be a very sentimental type person? Then maybe you should get her something that goes along with the whole wedding experience. Keep in mind that a lot of photos will be taken at the wedding and reception. Does she have a digital camera? If not that could be an option as she could use it that night at the rehearsal dinner, at the wedding, at the reception, and on the honeymoon. If she already has a digital camera, then there is another option. How about a nice digital photo frame in which she can display the digital photographs she or her friends have taken during the events surrounding the wedding. This will help her display her memories of her cherished event.
Is your future bride the type of person who loves to have an occasional day away from stress to recover on her own? Well after preparing for the wedding, the rehearsal, the wedding and reception, and the honeymoon she is going to have had a lot of things happen in a short amount of time. She might want a day away to herself to relax. Yes, the honeymoon is a time of relaxation in theory but for many of us our honeymoon was a schedule full of activities so we got to experience everything there was at that destination. How about giving her a gift certificate for a spa, or maybe an assortment of gift certificates for a shopping location of her choice so she can have a day of shopping? Both of these options would give her time on her own to relax and reflect on the exciting part of life she has just entered into.
Regardless of what you decide as a wedding gift for your bride to be, there is one thing that should be considered in the decision. The gift should be geared towards your bride’s interests and personalities.
