From time to time, I have problems with dry scalp. Also, I have a relaxer in my hair so I need extra moisture. Furthermore, my hair type is 4b so it requires more moisture than other hair types. In addition, all hair types can experience dry scalp or need extra moisture. There are many reasons for a person to have a dry scalp.

For example, the weather or dry weather has an affect on your scalp. I really like to take hot showers but this can affect the scalp, too. Also, if you like to shampoo and condition your hair in the shower and take a hot shower, I would suggest that you use cool water for the final rinse. The cool water will close the pores because hot water opens the pores. Moreover, it’s really important to rinse out the shampoo before adding conditioner.

Conditioner seals down the hair and makes the hair smooth. If the shampoo is not rinsed out correctly then the condition will seal the remaining shampoo into the scalp. Apple Cider Vinegar or ACV rinses can help with combating dry scalp. Apple cider vinegar rinses will lower the ph of the hair strand and close the cuticle. These can be done after shampooing or after conditioning. Also, the results of an apple cider vinegar rinses can make the hair shinier, less tangle, and softer. In addition, apple cider vinegar is a product that’s already in your pantry and it’s very inexpensive.

Brown sugar is another item that can be used to help with a dry scalp. Also, this will help to remove dry flakes from the scalp. This method is called a “brown sugar scrub”.

Here are the steps to doing a brown sugar scrub:

Mix olive oil and brown sugar until it forms a paste. Part your hair in sections and apply the brown sugar mixture to the entire scalp. Next, take your fingers and massage your scalp with the paste for about 5 minutes. Finally, you would shampoo, condition, and style your hair as usual. Lemon juice is another product that can be used to cure dry scalp and can be found in your refrigerator. Lemon juice will clear up dry scalp and will cleanse the scalp of dry flakes. You will need about two table spoons of lemon juice and massage into the scalp. And, leave it on for about 5 to 20 minutes. Also, you can mix the lemon juice with oil, a conditioner and still massage it into the scalp.

These are some suggestions that may help you with combating dry scalp. Also, it’s important to frequently shampoo and deep condition the hair. In addition it really helps to moisturize your hair at least one to two times a day. At the same time, it would really help to do a couple of scalp massages a week.
