Things You Can Do with Quaker Life Cereal

Cherry Pie, Duncan Hines, Peanut Brittle

The Quaker Oat Company’s Life Cereal is one of my favorites. You can do so much with Life, beyond just eating it in the mornings. Life makes a great dessert, too. This is a very rich dessert, and it’s so good. .It doesn’t matter how you do it, it is better than good; it’s fantastic.

Life – Chocolate Peanut Brittle & Banana Truffle

1 package chocolate pudding
1 package French Vanilla pudding
2 Nestles Chocolate Bar
1 ½ cups peanut brittle
3 cups Life Cereal
2 Bananas
1 ½ cups Cool Whip

You can either use instant pudding or the cooked kind. I like the cooked kind better, but it works well with either kind. Prepare both puddings and keep them separated for now. Place the peanut brittle in a Ziploc bag and break it up really good with a wooden mallet or something heavy. Break up the 2 chocolate bars into small pieces and set them aside.

You build this dessert in layers, kind of like dessert lasagna. Start at the bottom of your truffle bowl or punch bowl with a layer of Life Cereal. Then spoon in a layer of chocolate pudding. Now add a layer of bananas. Next add a layer of vanilla pudding and scatter some peanut brittle and chocolate bar. Then add another layer of Life and keep layering all your ingredients. When you are done layering, cover it all with Cool Whip. Save out some pieces of peanut brittle and chocolate bar to garnish the top. You will want to use a clear bowl like a truffle bowl or a clear punch bowl because the layers are so beautiful. This is easy and delicious!

For the next sinful dessert, I make with Hershey’s Chocolate Bars.

Life – Black Forest Truffle

Duncan Hines Dutch Chocolate Cake (bake according to instructions)
3 cups Life Cereal
2 large Hershey Bars
1 package instant chocolate pudding
1 can of cherry pie filling
1 container Cool Whip

In a double boiler heat up the Hershey Bars until they are completely melted; now drizzle the melted chocolate over the Life Cereal. Take your time and add it slowly, trying to cover as much of the cereal as possible. Next after the Life is covered with chocolate let it rest in the refrigerator (to harden the chocolate) while you cut the cake in half and crumble it up and then fold the cake into the pudding. You can crumble the whole cake if you have a bowl big enough to handle all ingredients, but I usually just use half the cake, and save the other half in the freezer for something else.

In the bottom of your truffle bowl break up about 1/3 of the chocolate covered life in your hands. Next add a later of crumbled cake and pudding mixture. Spoon some cherry pie filling over the cake mixture, cover with cool whip. The final layer will be Cool Whip and garnished with the final 1/3 of the chocolate covered Life Cereal.

Enjoy!
