Studies are shown that hypertension is not caused by any one thing, but there is a few lifestyle habits that are found to increase your blood pressure. Hypertension can come with different conditions or diseases along with a variety of other things. If you feel that you have hypertension, it is important to get checked out by a doctor so that you can get it properly taking care of. Although there are many reasons for hypertension, I have created a list of the most known causes.

First of all, stress is a big factor when it comes to hypertension. Taking on more then you can possibly handle at work and at home can cause a ton of stress on your body and mind. Stress can not only cause hypertension but many other conditions that harms your body. It is important to pace your self and try to keep calm. Work things out instead of worrying. Stress is very bad for your body all the way around so try to avoid getting stressed about things. Along with stress comes worrying. Anxiety has been shown to cause spikes in people’s blood pressure. Experts say that worrying too much can actually cause a lot of damage due to chronic hypertension. Try to relax as much as possible and take time out for yourself.

Second is eating the wrong things. Unhealthy foods can defiantly increase your blood pressure. It doesn’t matter if you’re skin or overweight, or whether you exercise or don’t, an unhealthy diet can cause hypertension regardless. You should try to avoid foods high in cholesterol, trans fats and salt. These foods are bad for you and can cause your blood pressure to go through the roof.

Next is a lack of exercise. Not many people exercise because of their busy lifestyles. Whether they are sitting at work for a desk job or sitting in a desk at school, there is a lack of exercise. This lack of exercise can eventually lead to obesity which is the number one cause of hypertension. Increase your physical activity during the day. Consider walking to work or school, using the stairs instead of the elevator or playing a sport or going for walks on the weekend.

Too much caffeine is the next cause of hypertension. Most people depend on their morning coffee and many individuals drink multiple soda’s each day. Caffeine is known to cause a temporary rise in your blood pressure which can cause more harm if your intake is daily. If you have 2 cups of caffeinated coffee or less a day, you should be good to go. Don’t drink more then this in a day though to avoid your blood pressure getting too high.

Smoking cigarettes is another big cause. When you smoke, your blood pressure tends to spike by 5 to 10 mm Hg. The nicotine in the cigarettes reduces the amount of oxygen in your blood causing your heart to work overtime in order to keep the cells in your body healthy. If you quit smoking, you will be drastically cutting down numerous health risks.

Next, not getting enough sleep can lead to hypertension. Individuals who get less then 6 hours of sleep per day are doubling their risk of getting hypertension. When you don’t sleep, your energy level goes down and this causes your heart to work harder. Try taking naps during the day to help with this issue and lower your risk of heart disease.

There are many reasons for hypertension but these are the main ones. Hypertension has no known cause but you can try to avoid getting it by following the guide above. These things are not healthy for you in the first place and if it doesn’t cause hypertension, it can easily cause numerous other conditions. It is best to fix your faults and try to improve your health.
