The Buffet at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota is Always Good

Yes, its a bit of a drive from Duluth, 75 miles south, but it’s worth it. A little bit of Las Vegas can be found in this Indian Casino located half way between Minneapolis- St Paul and Duluth. Hinckley is home to the Grand Casino, the largest and most complex Indian gambling facility in all of Minnesota. With a wide variety of facilities and entertainment possibilities there is one standard etched in stone. You always find a wide variety of very high quality food at their buffet.

We’ve made the trip a number of times, just for the evening buffet. While staying at their Resort Campground we have eaten at the lunch buffet as well. Any day, any time, the food is always fresh, hot, and appetizing.

You can chose from a wide variety of cosine’s. Chinese, Italian, all American meat and potatoes, and a large varied selection of Salads. Fruit, pastries, deserts of any description. Specialties change throughout the week, with steaks and prime rib being the focus on some nights, while sea food is at the top of the list on other nights.

Beef, turkey, and ham are always freshly carved to your liking. Potatoes come in a number of ways, and you can match the gravy to the meat of your choice.

Deserts, their tops in their field. Home made pies of all descriptions. Fresh cookies, and bars, chocolate, and carmel galore. Bread pudding or cherry cobbler, don’t forget the Pecan Pie with whipped cream on top. Maybe a light cream moose is to your liking.

Make an ice cream Sunday, they’ve got all the fixings. Fresh rolls and bread sticks, don’t forget the home made soups.

The buffet seating area is large and always busy. These people know how to handle a crowd, waiting time is short or non-existent, you will be seated promptly and attended by friendly staff.

Eat as much as you want, your empty plates will be removed while you return to the line for a second round. This is a well organized top notch eating establishment. I know it’s primary objective is to support the casino, but this is an experience in fine dining that would stand on its own merit quite nicely.

If quality and a fair price mean something to you, making the trip from either Duluth or the Twin Cities is worth the effort. A better weekend couldn’t be found then to make a getaway to Hinckley. Stay in the hotel at the casino, have a meal at the buffet and attend one of the many head lining performances that are brought to town to entertain at the Casino. Maybe a round or two of golf on the resort golf course.

Whether you arrive by limousine, or drive up in your motor home, the resort is equipped to accommodate all who come. Parking is abundant and free, valet parking is provided for those who wish to use it. Shuttle buses run day and night throughout the complex and into town to a number of hotels. Providing service is a priority at Grand Casino Hinckley, what ever you need, it is likely they can accommodate you.

Who says you have to gamble to have fun at the Casino. I know when ever we want a special treat in the way of quality dining, we’ll be in the car and heading south to the Grand Casino Hinckley, knowing we’ll be well treated and satisfied when we leave.
