They are after all, immortal beings with preternatural abilities. They are mesmerizing and glorious. They are dark and scary. The first true great vampire movie began with Nosferatu in 1922. Since then, we have all been fascinated with the notion of immortal life and the romance of a vampire’s kiss.

There are few places you can look today without smashing into something from Twilight. From tweens to adults you will find fans entranced by the allure and romance of Edward and Bella. A frightening spin on the future of the world with vampirism as a disease is given to us in I am Legend. This film, starring Wil Smith gives a terrifying look at what the world would be like if vampires truly existed and were a disease that could spread to destroy civilization. A terror filled movie with lots of surprises, this one will keep you jumping out of your seat.

If you are interested in how to hunt vampires then you’ll want to take notes during John Carpenter’s Vampires. This action packed thriller follows a vampire hunter on his quest to rid the world of the vampire vermin. The movie is non-stop with lots of adventure.

Finally, no list is complete without Van Helsing. This film takes a look at the early legends of Transylvania and it’s connection to Dracula. The 2004 vampire classic features Hugh Jackman as a religious vampire hunter with a past. He is sent to help the last surviving ruling family of Transylvania and his connection to Vampires and other terrifying legends are revealed.
