How to Create a Fantastic Twilight Inspired Teen Birthday Party

Birthday Party

The Twilight series of books seems to be what everyone is reading, especially teens who long to live vicariously through someone with a more exciting life than they. I thought that a Twilight birthday party would be a great way to celebrate not only your special teen daughter but her newest obsession, Twilight!

If only Edward, Twilight’s main character, was a normal, typical vampire, the planning of this party would be easier. We could throw around a few gloves of garlic, get all black clothing and fangs, and call it a party. Edward explains in the Twilight book and movie that these stereotypes of vampires are legends and it does not reflect his unique vampire needs. The main theme for this party is romance and love from Twilight. We will not use roses, candy and hearts since Twilight’s Edward and Bella are not traditional in that way. Instead, we will focus on creating a romantic ambiance and recreating the gloomy look of the days and nights in which Twilight’s Bella and Edward fall in love. Their town is gloomy by nature because it tends to rain almost constantly there.

I will not be organizing my ideas for this teen Twilight birthday party according to individual sections for decorations, food and the rest. Instead, I plan on giving as many ideas in a more general format so that you can use what you like and leave the rest. In this teen Twilight birthday party, I encourage you, like I always do, to use as many homemade elements as possible since they are always the most memorable. No one remembers patterned plates in years to come but a fun, original game with great photo opportunities is always remembered. Keep that in mind. Try to use as many things as you already have while creating your teen Twilight birthday party.

One way to decorate for your teen Twilight birthday party is to cut your party space in half, making one half like Edward’s upbringing and the other half like Bella’s. Edward’s side would be slightly darker with animals to feed off of and drinks of blood everywhere. Bella’s would be plain with normal decor and food. I would be more inclined to create one scene that seems to represent the love that Edward and Bella share, a forbidden love, a romantic love. Red and black are the 2 colors that I would use when decorating my teen Twilight birthday party space. I would especially use red and black velvet as much as possible. Where you might steer clear of vampire teeth and garlic, you can certainly use blood or drinks that resemble blood as a decorating factor for your teen Twilight birthday party. I would use stuffed animals that look as real as possible since that is the way Twilight’s Edward eats day to day. You can use the animals and any decorating element to hold down balloons or to stand alone.

As with any birthday party, be sure and make the star of the party your birthday girl. You can print Twilight movie Posters right off the Internet and then personalize them with her name and birthday wish. They are a fraction of the cost of pre-made Twilight posters. You can use her image anywhere from posters to the signs that identify the bathroom to labels on the soda bottles. Make the party about her as it should be. Everyone enjoys celebrating someone and the best way to do this is to personalize your party space with photos and details of your birthday girl. Twilight should be secondary to her spotlight.

Plastic stem ware and romantic elements like candles and low light may not be spoken of directly in Twilight’s movie or book series but it would set the tone nicely. The best way to describe the crazed fans of Twilight is to say it is a Edward Love Fest. Everyone loves Edward. Focusing on him is your best option. You can leave out white make up if the guests wish to imitate the very pale complexion of Twilight’s Edward. He also tends to glisten like diamonds according to Twilight’s Bella so glitter for the face would be perfect. Anything you provide, your teen guests will happily use and link to their favorite movie. You can hang rain coats, umbrellas and the like everywhere since the town is wet most of the time.

I love the idea of putting most of my time and especially my money in things that the guests or birthday girl gets to keep. I love the idea of providing the party guests at your teen Twilight birthday party with a red t-shirt with the any of several famous tag lines written across them to wear throughout the party. You can make the t-shirts very inexpensively by buying them in a men’s t-shirt pack and them ironing on the sayings that you print off of your household computer. A few great sayings would be My heart belongs to Edward, My neck belongs to Edward, or I love Cold Ones. All of these sayings would be perfect for the Twilight lover. Cold Ones refer to the vampires in Twilight since they are always cold. Edwards family is known also for their speed. They have extremely fast cars that are a big part of the Twilight book series so you can decorate with fancy toy cars and a beat up old pick up truck that represents Bella’s mode of transportation. Edward also runs fast and jumps high.

A few games that would thrill your young Twilight lovers would be a Twilight trivia game. Another crowd pleaser would be to split the Twilight groupies into 2 teams and give them each a trash bag full of supplies. They must take the bag and create the best Twilight vampire they can using a teammate. When time is up (about 10 minutes or so) they will parade their Twilight vampire in front of your birthday girl for judging. One version or another of this activity is seen in most of my party planning articles because it is always a hit. Everyone works together regardless of age or interests to create a funny character. You can put anything in the Twilight vampire bag such as paper, markers, tape, streamers, toilet paper, kitchen utensils, just about anything. The guests will come up with the most creative characters, they always do.

Another fun party game would be an updated Twilight themed version of pin the tail on the donkey. Simply print one of the famous Twilight posters off the Internet, the one with the hand holding an apple, and carefully cut out the apple. Have the blindfolded guest try to pin the apple in Bella’s hand. You could use any poster from the movie and just replace any object. To get a movie poster from the Internet, google Twilight movie poster and then copy and paste the image in your print program and use it.

Your cake could be red velvet or another romantically inspired flavor along with small romantic finger food to eat. You could scatter the tables with homemade Twilight photo confetti by copying and pasting enough Twilight images into a print program. Simply print the page of tiny images onto photo paper and then cut them out and scatter them. Guests love collecting and comparing the images. Be sure and make a sheet of birthday girl images too and scatter them all together. A keepsake is always a must at a teen birthday party. For your teen Twilight birthday party you could purchase one large Twilight movie poster and hang it for decoration but also hang a large Sharpie marker from a string beside it. Ask the teen Twilight birthday party guests to sign your daughter’s poster before leaving. She will love having that keepsake as a reminder of her Twilight birthday party.

Favors are a fun way to send off your guests with the feeling that the party lives on. A few ideas for teen Twilight birthday party favors would be small lace bags with candles, mints, a CD of romantic music, a paperback copy of Twilight the book or anything that is inspired by the series.

The creators of Twilight may not have merchandise for a birthday party yet but that should not stop you from throwing a fantastic homemade Twilight teen birthday party. Use your imagination and romantic spirit and you will be all set. Good luck.
