The Best Tasting Protein Supplements for Low Carb Dieters and Weight Loss Surgery Patients

Crystal Light, Fabolous, GNC, Protein Supplements

Are you overwhelmed by the choices of protein supplements out there? Then when you find something that looks good, it has way too many carbs in it? Are you afraid it will taste bad but you really need to “get your protein in”? Well, I’ve done the taste testing for you and here’s a guide for low-carb dieters and weight loss surgery post ops to the best tasting and most popular protein supplements available and where to get them.

Isopure RTD (ready-to-drink) :clear liquid, comes in various flavors, no carbs, 40 grams of protein in 20 oz bottle. A lot of people can’t drink this straight and mix it with water or crystal light, but I can and I love it! My favorite flavors are apple melon, fruit punch, and blue raspberry! I get them at my local GNC (it comes out cheaper for me because they have a discounted rate on everything because they are next door to the vitamin shoppe) but you can also order them online.

Micellar Milk RTD: this is FABOLOUS to make cafe lattes with! Mix with coffee (decaf because regular will dehydrate you and make you have frequent bathroom trips!), no need for creamer or splenda. You can also use this as a milk substitute with cereal, but I just like it with coffee (vanilla flavor). It has 40 grams of protein,220 calories, 12 carbs, 20 oz container, and doesn’t need to be chilled. Perfect for travel! You can get these at your local GNC or online.

EAS carb control RTD: great for the on-the-go types also! contains 15 grams of protein, under 4 grams of carbs, 100 calories per container, comes in different flavors. I like the chocolate! Sold at places like Rite Aide and Walgreens or online.

Nectar by Syntrax: very light and comes in different flavors also. I like the fuzzy navel flavor and mix it with sunrise orange crystal light, tastes like tang. Only 90 calories per scoop and packed with 23 grams of protein!! Good for folks who can’t handle shakes! I get this online.

Protein Delight: has chunks of chocolate/fruit (depending on the flavor you get) and it is yummy. I did notice a bit of an after taste though, however it tasted good (especially those chocolate chips!!) and you get used to it, after taste disappears. I like the chocolate flavor! 20 grams of protein per scoop, 120 calories, 6 grams of carbs. Very yummy shakes with this one! Also, I like to add a table spoon of peanut butter to this bad boy and wow! I have a chocolate chip peanut butter shake! Just add water and ice! I get this online.

UNJURY: It’s good, this is what I started off with. Only 90 calories, chocolate is by far the only flavor you should even use. No aftertaste..however they sweeten with aspertame! This is why I swtiched to Protein Delight because they sweeten with Splenda. Otherwise this powder actually tastes better to me, but they don’t have those perks..like the yummy chocolate chips found in the protein delight alpine chocolate flavor! Plus this one is WAY more expensive! ONLY SOLD ONLINE.

Oh Yeah! protein wafers: wow..these are TO DIE FOR! You feel like you are eating a candy bar, without the guilt. 180 calories for both wafers, 3 grams of carbs, 15 grams of protein! Great meal replacement and excellent for an on-the-go meal replacement! I like the chocolate mint flavor! I can’t even say enough about these babies..they taste great! Sold at GNC or you can get them online.
