The Best Salt Lake City Bagel Shops

Bagels

I’ve lived in Utah for a little while now, and one of the things that never ceases to amaze me is their variety of restaurants, and bagel shops/coffee shops are no exception. Below are 5 of my favorite bagel shops in and around Salt Lake City.

The Coffee Garden

The Coffee Garden is a local coffee shop, sandwich shop, and quaint little bakery that features fantastic bagels in an artsy, but fun atmosphere. Their menu features several different kinds of coffee drinks (hot, or cold) as well as lunch menu items (sandwiches, salads, etc) and a full bakery with delicious bagels, pastries, muffins, and more. The Coffee Garden is located at 898 South 900 East in Salt Lake City, and is open Sunday-Thursday from 6am-11pm and Friday and Saturday from 6am-midnight. For more information, call (801)355-3425.

Java Cow Cafe and Bakery

The Java Cow is one of my favorite bakeries in Park City. They feature great menu items like sandwiches, soups and salads as well as a full bakery that features tons of bagel choices, pastries, muffins and even a full ice cream bar. They also feature handcrafted drinks (the best, in my opinion is the Dark Cherry Mocha) and great desserts. Best of all, all their food is made from no artificial ingredients, no chemicals, and only the finest products. Plus, they feature free Wi-Fi. The Java Cow is located at 402 Main Street in Park City and is open from 7am-10pm Sunday-Thursday and 7am-11pm Friday and Saturday. For more information, call (435)647-7711.

Jack Mormon Coffee Company

Jack Mormon Coffee Company is a coffee and bakery shop in downtown Salt Lake that has great, homemade bagels as well as a large coffee and bakery menu. Their bagel selection is huge, and the prices are reasonable as well (about $1.50 for a bagel, without cream cheese). They also have over 50 types of coffee (roasted by the pound) and their baristas are known for being very skilled. Jack Mormon Coffee Company is located at 82 East Street in Salt Lake City and is open Monday-Saturday from 10am-6pm and is closed on Sundays. For more information, call (801)359-2979 or visit their website.

Greenhouse Effect

In the summers, this is a perfect place to go for some bagels and coffee, or other baked goods because of the overwhelming amount of outside seating in a great atmosphere. The Greenhouse Effect is actually known for their great crepes menu, which features several different kinds of European crepes. They also have great bagels, coffee, and tea selections, as well as other baked goods like pastries. The Greenhouse Effect also has a trendy atmosphere (in a converted house) and if you’re globally conscious, this is the perfect place to go. The Greenhouse Effect also features free WiFi. They’re located at 3231 South 900 East in Salt Lake City. Please call (801)466-3273 for hours or more information.

Rich’s Bagels

Rich’s Bagels is my favorite, so I saved the best for last. Rich’s Bagels has been around since 1994 and is the perfect spot in Utah to go for absolutely delicious bagels, and a fantastic selection. All their ingredients come from Utah (from Lehi Mills) and are made right there, handmade, in the store. Along with their homemade bagels and cream cheese, they also have a pretty good sized lunch menu with things like salads (pasta salad is delicious), soups, frittatas, homemade cookies and much more. They also have great, and unique, bagel sandwiches which are huge, and are perfect for lunch. They have two locations- one at 6191 Highland Drive in Holladay, and one at 8691 Highland Drive in Sandy. Their hours (at both locations) are Monday-Friday from 6am-6pm, Saturday from 6am-3pm and Sunday from 8am-2pm. For more information, call (801)277-3137 (Holladay location) or (801)947-0890 (Sandy location) or visit their website.
