Salt Lake City is really a fun place to hang out at sports bars, watch the Utah Jazz or any other favorite NBA team, eat good food, drink your favorite micro brews, sing Karaoke, and hoot and holler with the crowd. In every sports Salt Lake City sports bar or sports grill that serves beer and liquor, be prepared to either pay a private club membership fee or order food with your alcohol. Sports bars in Salt Lake City, Utah that offer private memberships will require that you show identification before issuing the membership card. That’s the law. Lumpys is a favorite sports bar with 37 HD TVs and popular hang out for Utah Jazz fans. Specials include $2 Coronas and Tequila shots and $3 Margaritas on Mondays, $1 PBR and $2 Beam shots on Tuesdays, $5 Domestic Beer pitchers on Wednesdays, $3 well drinks on Thursdays, $2 Heineken and $2 Cosmos on Fridays. They have appetizers and entrees that fill your plate with more than you can even eat! Private club cost – $16 to get into Lumpys Downtown, Lumpys Highland or Oscars.

Known as the “Cheers” of Salt Lake City, Lumpys Highland has 24 TVs, including a 55″ big screen TV. Lumpys has a Sunday Brunch serving my favorite dish, the Fonzanoone French Toast for $6 that comes with French toast and scrambled eggs with diced ham. The Huddle Sports Bar and Grill has 24 HD TVs with 2 giant screen TVs perfect for watching the NBA Playoffs or any other sports. If you get bored with the NBA Playoff games, you can even play the free poker or trivia video games at The Huddle. The menu is great since you can get chips and homemade salsa for only $2.50 and their burgers and BBQ brisket are wonderful. For $5 you can get a 1/3-pound Angus beef burger and homemade pasta salad or fries. If you are watching carbs, you can order their Sweet Potato Fries – YUM!

The Porcupine Pub is one of our favorite sports bars and restaurants for drinking micro brews and imported beers. They have 24 different beers on tap including local micro brews. The Porcupine Pub also has excellent food, including the homemade soups and a nacho plate piled so high it takes 4 people to eat one order. They have a quiet, relaxing bar area with about 6 TVs for watching your favorite NBA Playoff game.

If you want to watch the NBA Playoffs or other sports TV while dining instead of hooting and hollering, Iggy’s Sports Grill is a good choice. Iggy’s has 3 giant TV screens that you can view from any table in the restaurant or from the bar stools. I love Iggy’s Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and their hot wing appetizer plate is really good, too. The Sandy, Utah locations of Iggy’s is a favorite for traveling business people to unwind, relax, and watch their favorite sports team, including the Utah Jazz.

True confessions: I love Davanza’s not only because they have a University of Texas Longhorn banner on the ceiling at their Park City, Utah location, but because they also have the best tacos in Utah! They also have great pizza and Davanza’s makes a mean meatball sub. Davanza’s is a small, but not so quiet sports bar with a couple of TVs, where out-of-towners can have plenty of fun ribbing the bar tenders about the Utah Jazz. They have great beer on tap including Hefeweizen Cuthroat for $3.50.

You can watch the NBA Playoffs at Jersey’s, but this Salt Lake City sports bar loves the Nebraska Huskers. Jersey’s Sports Grill definitely has some of the best chicken hot wings in Salt Lake City. You don’t need a membership, but you must order food with your alcohol. Jersey’s has several satellite TVs and $2.50 steins of Coors Original. The coolest part about Jersey’s is they have a video game arcade to enjoy while watching the NBA Playoffs. Before you head to Jersey’s Sports Grill, visit their web site to print a 10% off coupon for food.

Port O’Call Sports Bar has 50 sports TVs and 18 satellite dishes to catch the beam of your favorite NBA Playoff team. Port O’Call also has a cool patio upstairs so you can enjoy the wonderful spring season in the fresh air. One of the main reasons we like to visit Port O’Call is their great selection of micro brews and imported beers. Port O’Call has some of the best live music in Salt Lake City with shows such as Little Feat, Robert Earl Keen, War, Sam Bush, and Coolio. They also have excellent food, including my favorite, the 10″ BBQ Chicken Pizza for $8.50.

Port O’Call has two memberships: Visitor Memberships are $4.00 and are good for 21 days. You can bring up to 5 additional guests in with you for the NBA Playoffs. Annual Memberships are $17.00 and are good for 12 months. You can add your spouse to your membership for another $1. There are no limits to the amount of guests you can bring with you under an annual membership.

Almost everyone knows about the national sports bar chain, Hooters. But when we go in Salt Lake City to view their dozens of sports bar TVs to see the San Antonio Spurs whoop up on the Utah Jazz in Jazz country, we love to order their famous chicken wings. Our favorite spot in Hooter’s is right in front of the big screen TV. It is rustic, it is wild, and some say it is even raunchy. We definitely have fun watching sports at Hooter’s Sports Bar.
